Fury would not make the mistake that Joshua and Hrgovic made fighting Dubois and that is to basically stand in front of him and try to trade. Dubois is young, strong and with plenty of power but like mentioned does Dubois have the dog in him to carry it out into the later rounds (Joyce Usyk). Dubois has shown mental weakness in the past when things where not going his way and wether Fury has enough left in the tank at this point to drown Dubois we won’t know until they do fight,I’d certainly like to see Fury fight Dubois before making the Joshua fight .
No Fury still ranks above Dubois. Yes Fury lost to Usyk but so did Dubois and Dubois did worse against Usyk than Fury did.
I'm not sure... I could see Fury hugging, playing it carefully to win a wide (but ugly) UD. I could see Fury getting knocked down multiple times and looking very average... And it being tight on the cards, one way or the other. I could see Dubois working the body hard and Fury gassing before getting knocked out late. It all depends how motivated Fury was for it, and how much his chin has left - he was hurt badly by not especially powerful shots against Usyk, and Dubois has some real power. Dubois has much better wins recently, but Fury is always difficult to gauge - and the specifics of these two makes that more complicated rather than less.
Sure, but then... Wouldn't you say that: 1) Dubois lost to a better Usyk (less declined). 2) Dubois has got better since losing to Usyk. And beyond that... How does styles weight the value of their performances against Usyk? And how would that impact their odds head-to-head? I'm not sure it's a stupid question... But I'm also not holding my breath for much more evidence either.
I think ratings should be based on results. Many rate Parker above Joshua for respective recent wins and performances for example. Dubois has in his last 3 fights beaten Joshua, Undefeated Miller and Undefeated Hrgovic. His last 2 wins have been over top 10 rated opposition. Fury's last win over a top 10 rated opponent was over two and a half years ago when he beat Whyte. Historically and overall I would rate Fury higher but for the current top 10 ratings would have Dubois rated higher Fury last 3 fights Usyk loss Usyk loss Ngannou debut Dubois last 3 fights Joshua top 10 rated Hrgovic top 10 rated Undefeated Miller Undefeated Currently I would have Dubois rated higher based on recent results
Fury 1st. Dubois 2nd Fury just had 2 competitive fights against Usyk. Dubois lost almost every round of his fight vs Usyk. Joshua is not even in the running after getting completed battered from start to finish by Dubois.
I’m not the guy you asked but seeing as I share his opinion; 1) No I wouldn’t say Usyk has declined much since August 2023 (Dubois fight) to May or December 2024. Certainly I would say current Usyk does the exact same job on Dubois as he already did last year - so no. 2) Dubois has improved slightly yes, but the styles of the guys he beat (Miller, Hrgovic, Joshua) flattered him, and importantly they don’t fight like Fury or Usyk. If we’re talking styles, then I’d favour Fury’s style over Dubois. For the record I’m not talking down on Dubois and I actually think he beats Parker, but I don’t like the idea that Fury gets leapfrogged by Dubois just because he lost competitive fights against the p4p number 1 boxer in the world and a future ATG. If Dubois smashes Parker, and Fury looks worse against his next opponent than he did vs Usyk, then I’d revisit the idea.
What? Usyk KO'd Dubious and dominated the fight. Usyk had tough fights with Fury. Dubious got stopped by Joyce. People have very short memories.
Dubois Fury Joshua Joyce Wardley Itauma Clarke Chisora Adeleye That is quite a good line up, the heavyweight scene in England is solid , the rest of the world need to catch up.
I think i'm still in shock when comparing Dubois vs Usyk with Dubois vs AJ. Dubois seemed like a completely different fighter against AJ, very aggressive and very ruthless and almost Mike Tyson-esque. That kinda makes me wanna see the Usyk vs Dubois rematch.
