Ali looked awful when he was 220 he was at his best when he was 210-215 while Usyk while slower still looks pretty good at 220
The last time Ali was in really good shape was at 216 pounds vs Foreman after that I don’t think he ever quite got in such good shape again. I agree 220 pounds wasn't a particularly good weight for Ali he needed to be a bit lighter to be close to his best.
When he was fighting 15 rounds against elite competition yeah, 210-215 was his best weight. The idea that uysk is naturally bigger is BS though. Ali didn’t look any fatter at 220 then he did, and he still looked good against mac foster at 226.
Ali is more lean Usyk is able to bulk up more and still maintain his speed and cardio while Ali just looked chubby when he was 220
Ali was in great shape in Manila. He pointed to his "great condition" as being what got him through it. "If I wasn't in such great condition I know I would have lost, too much pressure." He said that in the ring after the fight.
Clear? Really? It would have been a chess match, but Ali was faster and he had his highly unorthodox style. Both guys never encountered anybody like each other before.
I actually like Dubois’s chances against Frazier more than Usyk’s. I think FOTC Frazier takes Usyk, who likely isn’t strong enough to keep him off, and who for once will be in there with a guy with an equal gas tank. But FOTC Frazier wouldn’t show up, because Usyk would never say the things Ali did that fueled Frazier’s hate/rage; if anything, Frazier would like Usyk. So, eh, who knows.
He was in great shape in the second fight where he was able to dance around Frazier pretty effectively third fight he stood in front of him a lot even tried the ropadope for some reason so idk if he was in "great" shape
He looks like he had much more body fat whereas Usyk looks like he's got more muscle and barely any fat, also Ali looks pretty slow in that fight compared to when he was 215 or so i don't think he moved as much as he usually does on that fight but that's just my perspective from a cursory look at the fight.
Uysk doesn’t look near as ripped at heavyweight as he did at Cruiserweight. He definitely gained body fat. Both Ali and uysk look to be about 18-20% body fat at 220.
People collapsed in Manila Hall due to the heat while Frazier and Ali stood in the ring for almost 15 rounds. Neither Usyk nor anyone else has ever left as much in the ring as these two. Frazier would keep up with anyone these days, no problem.
