Eddie Hearn says this fight is possible and negotiations with Queensberry already started for this fight. I think it's a great match up but I don't want it to be for the WBO interim title. It would start speculations on Itauma breaking Mike Tyson's record, while in reality to become the youngest ever HW champion of the world he would need to challenge and beat a legit title holder (Dubois is the only choice here since Usyk won't return to the ring until August at least). Winning vacant interim title isn't the same as beating legit world title holder, is it? Anyway, victory isn't guaranteed for Itauma against Huni. Justis is talented fighter himself, he is bigger than Moses and far more experienced both in the amateurs and in the pros. Although Itauma will very likely be favored to win this fight based on his sheer talent.
Huni's win over Lerena is much better than any of Itauma's wins, but they seem to have stepped back in quality of opposition for Huni suggesting a lack of confidence in him. Itauma will probably stop Huni. I don't think Huni has the power to beat any of the top heavyweights. Rumours are that this fight will take place in May in Riyadh.
This is a really great fight if it happens, the question is whether they really want to push both of them into the fire at such an early stage of their careers, but I wouldn't have anything against this fight, we'll see how the situation will develop, in any case I favor Itauma...
Its tricky to pick a winner between Itauma and Huni from what we have seen so far. I do favour the likes of Whyte etc to beat Itauma but I don't think Huni has quite enough in his arsenal to beat Itauma. I think Itauma can probably better Lerena's efforts against Huni, plus Lerena is also a southpaw which gave Huni problems. However, Huni is slightly more experienced in the long-run, as well as his amateur background which does help him, as this could be like Dubois V Joyce. Fair play to both fighters if it happens, a very risky fight for both at this stage in their careers. A big step up for both.
Don't like this fight as it is manufactured to sell Itauma as the youngest "world champion" of all time while avoiding Usyk and Dubois. If you claim to beat Tyson's record, you should fight current titleholder at least, not compete for the vacant interim belt vs another unproven prospect.
It could blurry the waters a little bit, essentially, it's not a real "world champion" title, but a glorified mandatory or a stand-in. However, if Usyk does return/retires and Itauma gets promoted or beats Usyk, you could argue that his WBO belt is the continuation of the interim title he won against Huni. Or IDK how much time he has left but if say Usyk retires soon and ends up vacating, then the fight for interim becomes a bout for the vacant world champion belt? Take this with a pinch of salt though.
Would bet on Itauma by knockout, even tho I like what Huni's done so far, they put him in with Goodall and Kiki early on, and the Lerena win was good too. Experience means a lot and Itauma doesn't have much so that could always come to bite him if they rush him too quick.
Huni takes him to school, and itauma ain’t done enough book work, another Brit bites the dust. Dubious also gets whooped by Parker too
