Wilder took less money to face Fury over AJ....

He was perhaps the hardest single shot puncher in history . A one punch pony who was fortunate to fight in a weak, weak era.

    Very exciting, one dimensional fighter.

utterly maximized the one gift that he had, and gave us a lot of excitement in the process. Total can’t miss TV - sometimes a freak show, sometimes a thriller.

Will be remembered for his otherworldly power more than anything else. Another HW fighter whose resume is criminally thin in such a stacked era. Both his, and Fury’s resume is utterly dependent on one another. So many missed great fights - notably AJ.

He will be remembered mostly as a divisive character - his incredible power and his woeful skillset. Someone who will be debated as an enigma given his lack of quality (or even acceptable) matchmaking.

The most manufactured paper champ of my lifetime. Lots of people went to great lengths to prop up and maintain his career. That said when he finally faced top competition he may have been exposed but he showed a ton of courage.

Ascended near the top of the HW division, but his lack of fundamentals prevented him from beating to more skilled guys. If only he developed good footwork, head movement and an educated jab.

Please be honest with yourself at least and stop repeating this nonsense.

Do things in chronological order and lies become exposed.
Straight after the Fury1 fight, people wanted the rematch. fury asked wilder for a couple fights break before the wilder fury 2 fight as he stated he needed more time to get ready. Fury wanted another shot but asked for a couple more warm up fights.

wilder and fury made a verbal agreement to honour the rematch after fury has a couple of other fights to be better prepared.

During this time, there was still talk of the AJ fight. Especially after wilders 2nd fight with Ortiz. Wilder declined talking to AJ as he had already verbally agreed with fury.

There could be more detail on dates but that’s the basic timeline. It was honourable what wilder did, shame more people don’t honour their agreements.

This was also a large reason wilder was annoyed at fury trying to get out of the 3rd fight as wilder maintains he was a man of his word throughout his dealings and none of his opponents teams even deny that. Yet fury lied to wilder and tried to con him. The arbitrator confirmed this.

I think its champion like behaviour to honour your word and integrity over a bigger pay check. Respect the man more for it but why do people complain about somebody not selling out?

btw, I also think AJ dealt with things in a similar manner in his career. Witnesses corroborate this and I believe them. However, there is no doubt wilder was honest and had values, as it was evidenced by witnesses and actual events.

There's an interesting video of Lennox Lewis attempting to teach Wilder how to jab in the parking lot of a hotel, but Wilder wasn't having it.

Perfect place to drill some coaching lessons in, a parking lot.

it was just a light discussion, reading too much into it.

That’s an odd thing to say considering the muppets he beat. His KO record looks better than it should and whilst he clearly has power, plenty of guys packed more heat than Wilder.

The guy is a footnote, his whole career has an asterisk next to it.

A legacy of fantastic knockouts- big windmill arm and funny trash talk. No legacy in terms of resume. Gained my respect with his heart in the 3rd Fury fight.

The man was to proud to humble himself enough to learn his craft. If he had half the ability of Fury, he would have been a nightmare.

He did learn his craft. Bronze medal within around 2 years of starting the sport. That’s ridiculous progress.

he wasn’t the most polished and had clumsy feet but he boxed how he was taught.
And he was probably taught the best they could teach someone who started so late in the sport
