Part of the larger claim of him being overrated is that many claim he was untouchable in his prime which as has been shown in this thread he wasn't
And 3. Literally NOBODY says Ali would literally go through fights untouched. This whole "Ali fanboys say Ali never got hit once in his fights" is a manufactured strawman and as seen in this thread doesn't stand even mild scrutiny.
I agree I think it’s more of a TikTok casual take rather than something that’s actually taken seriously by those who watched Ali and understand the sport. The same people who think Ali never got touched in his prime are the same people who think Tyson is the GOAT
We're going around in circles here. Not a single credible poster has said he was untouchable like rockyjim claims or the O.P makes it out to be. I agree with you in that he wasn't unstoppable and he'd have his hands full with Usyk. None of this Ali wins every round effortlessly non-sense.
You keep claiming this but haven't produced a single bit of supporting evidence. Upon being exposed you've simply regurgitated the tripe. It's just a figment of your own imagination.
Dim Jim strikes again!!!!! A punching bag defeats Frazier x 2, Foreman, Norton and any amount of other top 5 and 10 contenders. You really got it going on dude.
Well, conversely we could say that some folk talk up Rocky’s defensive abilities as if he was El Radar.
So you aren't big on Ali's H2H ranking because he relied on toughness and athleticism (more than people realize) and when they started to decline he looked worse and worse. Newsflash - People put the best version of a fighter in fantasy H2H battles. Holmes relied a lot on his jab and when that declined Michael Spinks beat him. Assets are assets. Joe Louis relied on hard sharp punches with great timing and when his timing and ability to pull the trigger declined.......... As for people not realizing Ali relied on a solid amount of athleticism and toughness to win fights? Take a look around where you are, the vast majority of the forum know exactly what various fighters did and didn't rely on.
I love that Ali still causes so much debate Tbh, this forum and the boxing community will always have a love hate realtionship with Ali, he kind of declared war on the experts and preferred to get the common people excited.
I literally gave quotes and can find more I just lack the time and energy to go through this massive forum just to for people to ignore them like you seem to do for anything that goes against your narratives.
My point is that Ali had flaws from the very beginning even at his best that people ignore when discussing VS and instead treat him like some invincible demigod that would make quick work of any fighter despite these flaws.
You literally did not produce a single quote saying what you claimed everyone says, Swag called you on it and then you moved the goalposts and changed the narrative because you were talking rot and got owned. Even after that you've come back and said the same thing again literally within a couple of hours of getting exposed on it. At least i know the level i am dealing with.
Most on this forum know what flaws Ali did and didn't have. Many of the forum have decided his combination of strengths and flaws are better than other heavyweights and favor him H2H as the best of them. It's hardly a stretch. I'd agree, while also favoring him, that he would have some tough outings across history yes. Not every fight would be easy or straightforward. I'm doubtful there are people here who think he would make "quick work of any fighter". You are off on a tangent again. There's no chance you can find me someone in here that picks Ali to win every H2H matchup to make "quick work" of everyone. Scale back on the hyperbole.
