Let's say this happens in 2017, instead of AJ. What happens?

Who knows. Whoever lands first wins. Wilder wouldn't have gone near Wlad and didn't he went for easy pickings stiverne instead.

AJ Wilder was an epic miss. Who was at fault is the question. Eddie Heanr probably. Money was in the US at the time and AJ had never had a fight there only after Fury beheaded Wilder did they put AJ into the US market and he failed miserably instantly. Then after the Ruiz Jr mishap Eddie throught they could finesse a light hitting cruiserweight named Usyk. AGAIN flat on his face. AJ only fought Dubious because turki was calling the shots. AJ is a bum and doesn't deserve Fury.

Wilder & AJ were both terrified of power punchers only fighting the big hitters when required.

If Wlad comes in with the right mindset and gameplan he stops him badly.
If he gets spooked by the power or fights too cautiously, Wilder eventually lands and takes him out.

Wlads jab, plus a master class in hugging/veteran tactics like he used against Povetkin, drains Wilders chicken legs of energy and Wlad takes him out.

Listen, i don't rate Wilder that highly, but it's beyond question that he was the number 3 of the post Wlad pre Usyk era.

And this was the post Wlad era, you have to assume at some point Wlad gets clocked by Wilder.

Wlad smashes Wilder in an almost apologetically educated manner after the halfway mark.

Prime to prime no it is a total mis-match and now with how gunshy Wilder is with no fundamentals to fall back on it would look like the Zhang fight.

You think Wlad was prime in 2017? Are you are Fury fan boy or an AJ fan boy? Pretending Wlad was prime when he lost to those two?
    Wtf is this.

The guy that got stopped by stiff AJ (and looked very awkward in that fight) is getting chinned by Deontay as well at some point, even if Deontay has to get off the canvas to do so.

…prime for prime, Wlad washes him but there’s always a slight chance Deontay lands the home run punch.

Wlad was always wary of punchers. Got knocked out and wobbled a hell of a lot.
it’s why the grab and hold tactic came into force.

he is classed as an atg because of his defences and reign, which I respect too.

H2H he struggles with confident powerful fighters unless he can grab n hold.

Any version of Wlad destroys any version of Wilder.

Absolutely! People talk about Wlad's chin, but it's granite compared to the fragile whiskers Wilder's packing.

Any version of Povetkin destroys any version of Wilder. Thus the blatant duck and lame excuse.

Yah, literally everyone would say the same thing about Ross Purrity, Corrie Sanders, and Lamon Brewster as well….if they didn’t beat him….
