Why is Bakhodir Jalolov so poorly promoted?

Top Rank did a great job with Jared Anderson, giving him many opportunities to develop his pro career over the past few years. Unfortunately, Anderson was not as focused on boxing as he should have been.

But Bakhodir Jalolov, who is clearly more talented than Anderson and a potential heavyweight champion, has been fighting only low-level opposition, and not fighting often enough.

Why is Jalolov so poorly promoted by Top Rank?

Hard to promote a guy who doesn't fight

Jalolov only signed with Top Rank in July 2023, before that he was with Dibella. Top Rank have only been his promoter for 2 of his fights so far.

But it's odd Jalolov wasn't on a Top Rank card in his last fight and his next fight isn't on a Top Rank card either. If he's not added to the Top Rank card in Riyadh on the undercard of the Bivol/Beterbiev rematch then you have to wonder what Top Rank are thinking.

Nobody outside of the hard core fans know who this guy is. He stayed in the ams way too long.

He looks like another Hrgovic. Talented but lacking in ambition and desire.

I mean what do you expect with that name.

He should change it to Jukebox Timebomb.

It is a bit weird, he should be very easy to promote. 100% ko record, recent amateur world champion, only 30.

    I say feed him hrgovic.

Gassed out horribly vs Joe Joyce. Worst meltdown since Wlad/Brewster. 6'8 and moving around like that for 12 rounds? Believe it when I see it.

It didn't help that Jalolov decided to take 2024 off to go back to the amateurs/Olympics where it is almost impossible to be promoted well there. At least Jalolov has a fight scheduled next month and I do expect a bit more noise from him this year.

The only people that I can think off the top of my head that are genuinely well known just from their Olympic efforts is Usain Bolt, Simeone Biles, Tom Daley was super popular around the 2012 London Olympics, and of course that breakdancer.

Jalolov bounces around like a little guy. No big man has ever had movement like him. He fights like he's a lightweight. If he can move like that for 12 rounds I'll eat my hat.

Seems like TOP Rank signed Jalolov to control him for their interests. They doesn't want him to beat their favourite fellas. They push US boxers who can sell tickets and who are representing the USA. Boxers, that fans can relate to.

I've thought about that and it seems strategic and financial logical, that promoters are doing that

At least he didn’t get down to a knee and beg for mercy against Joyce. I’d rather punch my load than quit do to an ass whoppin. But the Jalolov vs Joyce fight was further back in time thankfully so I bet he’s worked a lot on the stamina issue.
