Bakole calls out Usyk

I don't disagree but ultimately I think Usyk should just retire. He turns 38 next week, is already the 9th oldest HW champion of all time, the 2nd oldest ever undisputed champion, the 3rd oldest unified one, and in 8 months time he will shoot all the way up to being the 5th oldest HW champion of all time and the oldest ever undisputed one.

There has only ever been four HW champions above 38 y/o: Foreman, Vitali, Wlad, and Maskaev.

He's clocked the game amateur and pro, winning everything there is to win amateur and pro, all of which in his opponent's backyards or on the road, and he's not only become a multi-weight champ but he's become undisputed at two weights which are by far the most difficult to bridge the gap to do so.

Then factor in that he's P4P#1, the Fighter of the Year, and has earned well over £100 mill in his last two fights, purses he is very likely not going to come near earning again.

Old. Undefeated. Healthy. At the top of the sport. Literally. Rich beyond his wildest dreams after having spent the vast majority of his career not earning a fraction of the amount a man of his talents and achievements should've.

There's nothing he can really do to add to his legacy. If Dubois wins and he rematches him they'll just say he only beat three guys at HW. If J-Park wins and he fights him they'll just say he only beat four and if were to lose at 38, 39 etc. when he's already been past his prime for years as it is and is fighting giants way bigger than him they'll absolutely crucify him for it and hold him to a completely different standard to all his fellow greats who he could supposedly never beat despite virtually all of them all having lost in their primes or multiple times in their primes to fighters their size. I can't think of a more perfect time to retire for any fighter.

 

Whilst it's always a pleasure to watch him fight, as said, it couldn't be a more perfect time for him to retire. If he was a few years younger it would be different but he's not. He deserves to go out on top for the way he went about his career and the way he has conducted himself in and out of the ring.

Look at someone like Clenelo. He has no intention of testing himself against the best anymore and he has been cherrypicking his opponents like crazy for years now. Usyk has reached that stage of his career now, and at a much older age, where he could do the same but that's not the way he was made. I wouldn't blame him if he did though

 

They don't albeit sometimes they do. But the fact that Usyk is the only man to beat Hunter, the only man to drop him albeit a technical KD where the ref deemed the ropes kept Hunter up, and the only man to come close to stopping him

And Hunter in the only man to beat Bakole, the only man to hurt Bakole, and obviously the only man to stop him
