Why is Moses Itauma so heavily hyped?

Itauma destroys Whyte at this point, I don’t see that being competitive. Itauma isn’t just a hype job he’s a serious talent, he’s been beating up fully grown pro boxers in gyms since he was a school kid, there’s stories of him rocking up to the gym in his school uniform and getting in there and giving Daniel Dubois all he can handle.

    Like I said.

I cannot comment until we have seen his stamina, chin, and heart tested and also being tested against a good proven live opponent that will come to fight like Whyte, Miller, Chisora. If Itauma fights one of these guys it could well be a similar affair to Joyce V Dubois and Whittaker V Cameron.

Remember, Whyte is a huge huge step-up to McKean. We are literally going from a good journeyman to a weak but very experienced contender with massive power that will come to fight. Experience is critical in boxing, let alone in life.

Premature ejaculators everywhere you look in here at the moment.

There’s absolutely no certainty that Itauma beats Huni at this point.

The pattern plays out over and again in the UK.

Yeah but you prove my point, not ALL undefeated prospects are hyped. Torrez is an Olympic silver medalist more than half the forum goes on and on about how bad he is.

True, Joyce was another won, Olympic silver too and before he beat Dubois, nobody was giving him a serious chance of being a contender. Maybe the same will happen with Torrez, one good win and then he could get some momentum behind him and fans will then hype him.

I guess it takes more than an undefeated record. Itauma's recent early wins against usually durable opponents has no doubt added a lot to the hype. The narrative about becoming the youngest heavyweight champion ever also is a good selling point.

He's young and has power. At HW that's what it takes ro hype someone. Surely you've seen it happen plenty of times throughout the years

I think if he was chiny we would know from training camps, sparring etc. Somebody, somewhere will have caught this kid flush, and the boxing community like to gossip....

The Croatian media keep mentioning him as Hrgovic's next opponent, I think that Hrgovic would hold his own for a while, but Itauma would stop him in the later rounds...

Wow what a fight that would be, that would be a huge statement from Itauma if he beats Hrgovic who I rate very highly.

If Itauma isn’t going to become youngest world champion I’d step him up a bit slower, stick him in with someone of an Otto Wallin level next.

His age and explosiveness are why he is getting the attention he is. But he is the real deal. I wouldn't class him as a prospect at this point, as i think he pretty much beats most right now

I think he's better than Richard Torrez, dunno if that means all that much.

I don't see "special" from him though. I don't see future champion either. He's very young though especially for a HW so maybe he'll mature (unless he gets clipped).

They need to let him develop. Yes he is a talent but stopping Dempsey early does not make him a great or Mike Tyson. He should be allowed to develop and learn his trade. Take him to the US for sparring and some fights.

    1) Extremely fast hands for his weight
    2) Very fluid
    3) Great punch variety and combinations
    4) Hits very hard
    5) Moves well

He was beating up Dubois and Okolie in sparring at 16-17. Give him a chance at a ''top'' guy and he'll show people that he's not a regular prospect.

Because they get put in bums and kill them until they face stiffer opponents lose or struggle then become hyped bums themselves it's the circle of current boxing sad really
