Does Joshua ducking Dubois II change your view of him?

It seems there has been little discussion of this. After the match, we were told that the rematch clause would be enacted and that the rematch was next. Obviously things have changed since then.

There have been many who have labeled the career of Joshua as excessively calculated. Is this just more of the same? Say what you will about Wilder, but he said he wanted to go out on his shield and risk it all to destroy Fury, and he took that risk.

Frankly, I'm not sure there's any use in rebuilding or stringing together another Franklin-Helenius-Ngannou run to rebuild hype. Joshua is what he is. He's a guy who, after 15 years at the top level of the sport will throw 3 lead rights hands (with his left hand at his knee) and follow it up with a lead right uppercut from 10 feet out and get flatlined. He's not going to improve at almost 35.

Ducking Dubois just gives fuel to the theory that he has always been a protected fighter whose promotion oversaw tactical risk and still managed four losses along the way. It's very difficult to be actively ducking a free shot at a title and then expect people to believe that everyone else is also ducking you.

Made me chuckle a bit. Kudos.

No it doesn't change my view of him.

Joshua is experiencing what it's like to be a mere mortal. After writing off Ruiz Jr as a fluke, AJ got schooled by Usyk twice. While harder to let go, AJ had his meltdown and seemed to move on.

After all, there's no shame in losing to an all time great like Usyk.

With Dubois... he can't move on. Dubois ran over AJ the way AJ used to run over his own opponents. Dubois isn't some master boxer, it wasn't a fluke and now AJ feels human for the first time without an excuse.

Hope he retires at this point.

Do we really need ANOTHER rematch. It’s like every high profile matchup needs at least two fights now.

I rather see Joshua fight Bakole or Zhang. And Dubois fights Parker next.

    That's pretty spot on.

Let's just say Fury's retirement, even if temporary, just terrified AJ and Hearn since they now have no excuse to dodge Dubious. He now becomes the biggest money fight and with a belt.
    AJ is trapped.

On the other hand, a Charr-Pulev2-Miller run could set him up for another title when Usyk retires by then and AJ-Whyte can fill Wembley for the vacant belts.

No point. like Frazier taking the rematch with Foreman. It’s only going to end up one way. Dubois just has AJ’s number. They could fight 10x, and AJ is going to finish all of them face down on the canvas.

move on. Chase the Fury fight for cash.

I did laugh when I saw Hearn say "Joshua will fight the winner of Dubois V Parker"

The bit he missed out was "...unless Dubois wins".

They are making room for Dubois / Usyk.

Seems to me that somebody in the boxing establishment really, really wants Dubois to become the next big thing. I predict dodgy scores for the Parker fight.

AJ should announce a retirement just to wind up Fury who’s clearly holding out for bigger bucks to bring him out of ‘retirement’. Weirdly an AJ retirement would easily eclipse Fury’s in the media.

The Foreman-Frazier comparison is good. Both were violent, totally dominant KOs. It's hard to get around that.

It is interesting as AJ went for the rematch immediately after losing to Ruiz and Usyk, but not for Dubois.

I think it may have been because he thinks not rematching Dubois would give him a better chance of fighting Fury.

It tells me he knows Dubois is better than him
Otherwise, he would have taken the rematch like Ruiz

I think he looked scared pre fight and him overreacting to 'let's go' says it all.

Dubois would just smash him again

It's a business decision, both him and Fury are getting to the end of their careers, another loss to Dubois puts him in Wilder territory and ends any chance of a big pay day with Fury and lets have it right, its a huge payday. Fury will likely retire after an AJ fight and AJ will likely retire if he loses again. Fighting Dubois is high risk, not as high a reward as the Fury fight. Does it stink that he can lose and still go on to get such a big fight...yes, yes it does...but boxing often stinks as does life!

Nah, probably a good choice. DDD would smash him again and he doesn't deserve the rematch in the first place. He was gunning for Fury in the battle of the losers, but, what do we know, Belly retired instead of fighting him.

Hearn and Joshua have always had the Fury fight as the last big mega pay day before walking away,Fury retired or not has now at the least delayed this fight and thrown a pretty big spanner in there plans and it will be interesting to see what path they take now .

    Ducking Dubois?

He's just fought him and had his **** pushed in.

Dubois is onto bigger and bigger things.

AJ should make big domestic fights now, against the likes of Fury, Chisora, Wardley etc.
