That's a hot take! lol When Joshua fought Whyte (a known puncher), an unbeaten Whyte's previous 13 opponents didn't see the final bell. When Joshua fought Martin, an unbeaten Martin 's previous 13 opponents didn't see the final bell. When Joshua fought Breazeale, only two of 17 opponents had seen the final bell. ... Then you have opponents like Klitschko, Povetkin, heck even Helenius (and Ngannou cough cough). And most recently Dubois. Joshua also made offers to Ortiz and Wilder. And signed to fight Fury after Wilder 2. So, when you say "Hearn made sure to keep him away from punchers most of his career.", my question needs to be, who were these punchers Joshua was kept away from? He has likely fought the most punchers out of anyone in the top 10
Chisora is a smaller heavyweight in terms of height, he was coming in low underneath Usyk’s punches which made him more difficult to deal with, Usyk feeds on bigger guys. AJ would destroy any form of Chisora, even washed up AJ in 2025 would probably beat ‘prime’ Chisora.
Fury retires and we are already 8 pages deep. Meanwhile the Usyk fights on thread got 8 responses. Shows you who really is this generations Champion.
I gave him the benefit of the doubt last time, so I am a bit skeptical. But if he is serious, then congratulations. He is going to retire healthy, and wealthy, and his family will be provided for. And he will have a good legacy, even if it might have been a bit better. Good job, Mr. Fury.
I stand by my comment. After Povetkin Joshua didn't fight a puncher for 6 years when he met Dubois and got obliterated. Maybe it's just how the cards fell but he didn't fight the big hitters of the division; Wilder, Zhang, Bakole, Hrgovic, Joyce etc. It's no coincidence he went into the Dubois fight being hyped up as the best in the division again, clever matchmaking.
Well, that isn't correct either. Whether you rate him or not, Helenius is a big puncher. Signed to fight Wilder. Wilder lost to Parker. Not sure I would classify Joyce as a big hitter. He always ground his opponents down through attrition. Fought Helenius who is actually a big hitter. It is the only thing he has going for him. Zhang, sure, I guess. He didn't fight Zhang. Not sure when he should have fought Hrgovic though. And Bakole only became relevant in mid-2024, after which Joshua fought Dubois. But you can stand by your statement if you like...
I’m glad he’s gone! Flim Flam, floppy wristed, wind & **** boxer who somehow talked his way into the argument about being an ATG! Won the titles against the worst version of Wlad, who himself was unmotivated and ready for retiring. Also it was THE WORST ever Heavyweight Title fight in living memory, neither fighter deserved to walk out with the belts Never fought anyone of note until Usyk and got beaten twice. Don’t throw Wilder at the argument because his record is substantially worse than Fury’s Alongside his ridiculous father and the rest of his family, he’s brought nothing but shame to the sport Good riddance
Nobody believes this he is just a diva and a narcissistic ego maniac. He wants to get more money from the Saudis and he loves to get begged. Atleast he doesn't have the titles and the undefeated streak to gaslight the public he can only fool his stupid fans.
Helenius only notable KOs are against that overhyped Polish guy. You cannot call him a big hitter but then dismiss Joyce who has a KO win over Parker. Honestly when Helenius is the guy you have to hang your hat on it just proves Joshua stopped fighting big punchers I suspect the guy kept getting dropped in sparring so they knew they had to manage him carefully in the second half of his career.
A good decision, based on recent performances Joshua wouldn’t respect Fury’s power. Joshua would walk him down, eventually catch Fury proper and stop him.
I sometimes wonder if people stop to read their own posts. This is your criteria for "ATG"? Avoiding stoppage fighting 40 year old Klitchko? Let's test that with a mental experiment. Fury is now 35. Fast forward five entire years - so it is now 2030. Let's put the very same Tyson Fury (who will now be 40) back in the boxing ring, and match him against a 26 year old 6'9 highly rated contender with fast hands and great feet. Who would be our favourite? Why people don't view 2013-15 Klitchko as an athletic abberation - a brilliant freak of nature fighting LONG after many other fighters have retired, or peaked (often a decade prior) is a bit lost on me. It's not some great upset for a 40 year old heavy to get bashed out, never mind lose on points in a snorefest. As for Whyte, Wallin and Chisora as fodder for an ATG resume, I just don't know what to say to you. Wilder. Heavily debated fighter. Fury could easily have been stopped in fights 1 and 3. Most boxing people feel WIlder (adjusted for the very top level) is a terrible boxer with ATG right hand. They were great fights.
I think the Ruiz loss did for AJ. He wanted to be a boxer after the loss, and was a little gunshy. He got "audley'ed". I mean nothing like as bad as Audley got "audley'ed". But still audley'ed.
