My favorite upset of this type belongs to Danny Womber. In 1953, the current world champion and future Hall of Famer, Kid Gavilan met occasional fringe contender Danny Womber in a non-title fight. Womber won a unanimous ten round decision. In and of itself, that's a pretty big upset but nothing truly stunning. Here is what makes it amazing. That was Gavilan's only loss during a run of 36 fights and Womber's only win over a span of 12 fights.

That for me, is the biggest boxing upset I know of.

I assume that what was implied here with the ellipses was "you can always just list the Thadzi fight."

Duran's later fights after Leonard II were good examples.

In my opinion…Tim Witherspoon was a much better fighter than Bonecrusher Smith

I was thinking Tim Witherspoon losing to Bigfoot Martin, but wasn't sure if Timmy fit the criteria for Great or ATG. Decent upset nonetheless...

Vernon Forrest losing twice to Mayorga. I get the first fight where Forrest was simply caught by the hard punching and awkward Mayorga but I thought the far superior Forrest would destroy him him the rematch. Never would I have expected Mayorga to win a decision over Vernon.
