Agreed. The natural boxing stance is to have your chin down to protect it which negates height. The reach is what makes it hard for somebody to get inside. I have seen a lot of tall fighters get sparked because they keep their chin up.

If you prefer punching down I guess it’s handy being tall but there’s advantages to every height

Short fighters are more manly than tall fighters. Short fighters go ahead and try to knock their opponents head off, meanwhile tall "fighters" use their jab to keep a man smaller than them away and hug them like homosexuals when they get too close. Absolutely pathetic.

A guy like Hearns would knock your head off though if you try to get inside on him.

I know, I was just making fun of him because he constantly goes on about "manliness"

Some examples would be nice. Hearns vs Benitez is a great example imo. On the flip side how about that Villanouve or whatever who outfoxed Arguello using footwork,

mayweather is an example of how important reach is. Floyd has orangutan arms but is short after 135. Yet was so great using his long arms in defense and offense.

I guess what I’m getting at is when an opponent maximizes their strength vs their opponent they usually completely well. :roto2nuse:

Allegedly that happened in a sparring that was open to the media.

It’s just styles, if the best guys come up against excellent fighters who can close range and fight on inside, it’s interested

    It’s just about range/timing.
