Just a fun idea I had while watching some Zhang fights.

Which fighters would come out on top in a phone booth fight? Aka a closed ring, say a 4x4 ring, just swinging for the fences. Obviously power and chin and heart is 98% of the game here.

Just a few I would bet on

    140 - Provodnikov
160 - GGG (debated on Hagler and GGG for awhile... while I would take hagler in a match, in this hypothetical scenario, I legit do not think anyone can knock out GGG before he blasts you out)
    Heavyweight - Tua

You guys' thoughts? Its lowkey harder than you think, got a major headache when I started thinking about the lower weight classes. Arguello JCC Duran etc.

Chin is more important than power here

Beterbeiv. If you let him get close enough, his powerful short punches are going to do tons of damage.

This is a good example of how dangerous he is at close range.

Bowe has a good mix of size, power, skill, and heart for this scenario

Tua would absolutely knock his head off. I actually cannot think of one single boxer that can take Tua in this hypothetical scenario. Legit do not see anyone being able to knock out the Samoan commercial refridgerator before seeing another realm

Pretty terrible list. Why is Gatti Porter there lol.

Its basically a bite down and swing scenario. Hit and get hit. No footwork minimal head movement etc. Legit just stand still phone booth fight. Gatti has heart but he's been floored by Mayweather lol come on.

Foreman, Zhang (since stamina doesn't matter) come to mind, or a Vitali?

It gets pretty difficult when you put guys like Foreman into the mix... haven't seen chin get cracked, and can pack a punch...

The reason I go with Tua is due to his bone structure. It's actually comical how he is built.

We're basically talking about eating and landing clean punches at an even 1 to 1 or 1.1 to 1 ratio.

Boxing iq, footwork etc has nothing to do with it.
Its basically who can knock out the other first with haymakers.

    Vitali just no.
Zhang is sneaky and has insanity power, and decent handspeed, but Tua will probably hit zhang twice while zhang gets 1 left off. Stamina absolutely matters, your punches will lose velocity and mean intentions real quick when youre getting decked CLEAN in the face also

In these scenarios, no fight will last more than 40 seconds tops. Zhang can very well punch himself out within 20 seconds if he makes it that far. He wouldve ate at least 4 Tua left hooks at the 20 second mark.

Vitali isnt even top 10 in this scenario

Toney doesnt hit hard enough. His slick defense wouldnt matter much in a phone booth swinging haymakers scenario.

Canelo is a good one. But you'd take canelo over prime GGG? Canelo legit landed his hardest, most desperate punch ever on GGG. It was a borderline windmill looping right. GGG just nodded and moved forward and Canelo's face quite literally was in absolute disbelief.

I assume you put Canelo at 160.

Duran is so so so good. My pick for 135

Beterbiev was a beast back then. But, could Cloud show any less heart in a title fight?
