Agreed. Look at it this way, we are half way through this decade and Ruiz has had 3 fights, he had to get off the canvas to win a tough fight against a used up Areola, he won a close fight against an ancient Ortiz who's chin and legs are clearly gone, then he had a draw that he should have lost against Jarrell Miller. That's his body of work over the last 5 years

It's like him and Michael Hunter are in a competition on who can waste their prime heavyweight years.

I just started watching boxing a few days ago. Is it right that he's the first Mexican guy to become a boxing champion and there are not that many Mexicans that are into the sport? If so, he must be like a superstar in Mexico or people just don't know him that well or whatever.

All good points. What is going on with Michael Hunter by the way? He’s pretty much fallen off my boxing radar.

Dude, not for nothing, but I think your posts are getting even stranger, if that's possible. :)

Looking good? he's had 3 fights since losing to Joshua in 2019, UD's over 2 fossils , Arreola and Ortiz in fights he didn't look good in ,then had a draw with an equally sloppy Jarrell Miller.. if he fights anyone that's legitimate he's done.

Well, after the povetkin draw now back in 2019, Hunter I believe left Hearn and signed to some upstart promotion (Triller?), where he fought a couple of journeymen and then had a draw against Jerry Forest, disappeared for 2 years and started getting more actiive towards the end of 2023 fighting 4 journeymen (yes Cassius Chaney is a journeyman) and then if in remembering this right, showed up after Bakoles win over Jared Anderson and was angling for a rematch, which looks like it's not happening obviously. Bakole is slated to fight Efe Ajagba and Hunter is headlining some card in Las Vegas against TBA.

Oh and Hunter dropped an eight rounder in 2024 to Suslenkov but for some reason it's not being counted on his record because boxrec has a thing about IBA bouts.

No interest in Ruiz anymore he got his 15 minutes of fame after the Joshua win then decided to throw it away by coming in even heavier in the rematch showing a total lack of respect of becoming champion and the sport itself.

He's been too inactive since calling out fighters instead of getting in the ring and proving himself, and based on his last few recent fights especially the gift draw vs Miller i have no interest in watching him fight.

I was at the Joshua fight and the Miller fight. I don’t care about what the scale said, he was in good shape for Joshua and had high energy. Against Miller, he was a fat slob who barely moved his feet and would rattle off a quick combo once or twice per round before going back to catching his breath. I don’t think he’ll ever get his conditioning together again, even by his standards.

He's got a fight against dreaded TBA coming up.
