That isn't true. He beat one champion in his era and Corrales beat two plus Casamayor for a vacant belt (a better scalp than Norton).

Because he couldn't pace himself and lost the biggest fight of his career by stoppage.

He was beaten THREE times in his 20’s, by non elite opposition.

He was knocked down 13 times, barely beating Sam Peter.

He wasn’t as good as a prime Larry Holmes.

Mike lost to Douglas, and was past his best before his 24th birthday.

He then lost badly twice to a past prime Evander.

When he was younger than what Holmes was when they fought, he got hammered by Lennox, and retired after losing to two non world level fighters.

Yes, he was super special for those first 5 years. And if you were rating solely on ability in his prime, the rankings would be different.

But under traditional ranking criteria, he can’t go above Holmes, even with the win over him.

    Larry had great ability.

    A long reign.

And he gave a prime Evander a great fight, and beat Ray Mercer in his early 40’s.

He had far more fights, and much better longevity.

Mike just didn’t do enough to surpass him.

He lost to 3 non great fighters in his 20’s.

That is not the 4th best HW of all time.

We’ve already established that Canelo wasn’t in his prime.

    Stop being stupid.

Nobody knowledgeable who’s watched Canelo’s career believes that.

    Corrales was a good fighter.

    But not an ATG.

Except that’s not factual is it.

George was green, but Canelo was in his prime?

Matthew Hatton fought the great, PRIME Canelo.

Wlad's all ranking is probably the most debated of all heavyweights. (or at least top 5)

Not from pundits or legends of the game but I mean on these forums.

This isn't even the fourth fight. Marquez' in ring weight is already in line with Floyd's max range. He probably put on a few more pounds after that.

How can the 4th best HW, lose THREE times in his 20’s, to non great fighters??

Not when he was in his 30’s and 40’s, washed up, but in his 20’s??

    13 times to the floor??

The stats aren’t enough in this one.

And whilst we’re playing your imaginary game, those stats for Wlad wouldn’t even exist, had Vitali not have had to have kept retiring.
