I would actually wager that Canelo has one of the better jabs that Crawford has faced. Canelo underutilizes the punch, but when he does use it, he uses it to great effect.

 

Agreed. I think he has been using his jab more as he has aged, but I would have to rewatch quite a few fights to say for certain.

 

I cant believe there are people out there who think Crawford can KO Canelo

 

Crawford has never faced a fighter that would beat up his left arm.

 

I can't remotely believe that Crawford will have a gameplan that is based around doing damage / stoppage related. Unless Bud has delusions that he can do what GGG, Kovalev and Bivol could not do, and even make a dent in that ginger noggin and make Saul touch the canvas.

Whilst bud can hit from good angles with shots that the opponent can't see coming, Canelo has proven against higher quality opposition AND at higher weights that he:-

• Has stellar defence and many times makes those shots miss, or at eats rolls with 'em
• Has a bull-neck that supports a tried & tested chin, he took GGGs best bombs and hardly even blinked let along looking like being in trouble

Those things are real problems for Bud to work around - maybe he can damage Canelo to the body, and impact his suspect gas tank? But he surely knows he is not getting much change upstairs.

IMO Bud will look to more follow the template that Khan demonstrated - before being obliterated - moving, scoring points trying to frustrate Alvarez, whilst being MUCH more defensively responsible.

For me the biggest issue for Crawford is how will HIS body hold up when Alvarez executes his 'chop down the tree' gameplan, and hits Bud to the body and arms with full blooded shots that kept GGG & Bivol honest?

Buds gameplan IMO must be focussing on nullifying / working around Canelo's strengths to have any chance.

 

Agreed, hence Bud focussing on that blueprint, with the ability to be more defensively responsible and not get starched - maybe.
