Eddie Hearn has confirmed that Anthony Joshua is considering fighting Deontay Wilder next.

If Zhang beats Kabayel, AJ should fight Zhang. The Wilder fight would have been huge but that ship has sailed. I would still watch though

I agree. I think physically, Joshua is still good (chin looks eroded though), but mentally he's shot. Though, I think Wilder is way further gone both physically and mentally (and the chin is worse off too).

I think Fury should still be favoured but I thought you made good points about the styles - Joshua is not a better fighter than Fury but there is some chance he simply knocks Fury out.

Joshua is (was?) a very good offensive fighter, and accurate finisher (much more accurate than Wilder) once he got people hurt. So if Fury's chin and recovery have degraded too much, he is vulnerable here even though he is better than Joshua overall. It's possible that Joshua can't pull the trigger anymore, but I'm not sure Fury wants to bank on that.

Yes Fury performed well against usyk x2 and Joshua got swept aside by Dubois

But like you say, is Fury Vulnerable? For all Usyks greatness he doesn't punch anything like Aj

Has Aj still got it mentally to pull the trigger?
Can Fury withstand it if he lands? I don't think he can

I would favour the best Fury to beat Joshua, but even then, Joshua at his best could be a nightmare and many would pick him

Right now if Aj isn't completely gushy? I think he gets it done

I think calling Joshua a shell of his former self is a bit harsh no? Yeah the Dubois loss was bad but he looked excellent in the Wallin and Ngannou fights prior. Not to mention he's bounced back from bad losses before. Let's not write the guy off before even giving him a chance to redeem himself

After the Ruiz loss, Joshua didn't change what was wrong. In that fight AJ had Ruiz hurt, rushed in and threw punches out of position and got clipped then dropped.

In round five Joshua had Dubois hurt, rushed towards him with his left hand down and threw an uppercut out of position. Joshua got clipped and dropped.

Joshua is mentally weak.

AJ tried to outbox the master boxer in Usyk.

AJ chose to trade with Ruiz jr inside despite the fact that Ruiz has T-rex arms by comparison.

AJ is a shell of his former self physically, mentally and his confidence is at an all time low. Joshua could say Ruiz jr got lucky. Joshua can stay there is no shame in losing to a master like Usyk.

But Dubois?

Dubois comprehensively beat AJ into submission through brute strength. That takes more out of you the losing a UD.

AJ is done, which is why he's looking at Wilder.

 

Still hopeful for AJ V Fury next.

Will probably be something silly where AJ fights Wilder and beats Wilder, then Fury begs for the smoke but will wait until summer 2026.

I remember when they were 'making the fight' years ago, before the Parker and Zhang fights, and AJ chose Wallin.

How many losses does Wilder need and how old must he be before they're actually fight him?

The way they've handled Wilder is good confirmation that they love picking shop-worn opponents when they can get away with it.

 

AJ definitely has an equalizer in terms of raw power, but so did Wlad. Unless AJ rekindles that fire (which must be increasingly difficult as he approaches the end of his career with f-you money) I can't see him going in with the dog required to put Fury down.

I think Fury is underrated after his losses to Usyk. He's still the clear number 2 even past his prime.
