Joshua has beaten 5 ranked fighters, Fury has beaten 3 ranked fighters. Joshua's best wins.... Wladimir Parker = Could age really well if he beats Dubois. Povetkin Takam Whyte Pulev Wallin Ruiz Fury's best wins..... Wladimir Wilder = This win aged poorly. Whyte Chisora Wallin Cunningham I think Joshua has better filler on his resume and has the edge in regards to beating ranked fighters not that much to choose between them though honestly.
Joshua’s record is objectively and clearly deeper and “better” than Fury’s. That is self evident. That’s not to say he’s better than Fury. Fury would’ve been favoured to beat all the men on Joshua’s resume HAD he fought them. The issue is not his talent, it was his lack of activity against the top guys that diminshes what could’ve been a legit great career. as it stands, his resume is inextricably linked to that of Wilders. Joshua’s can stand on its own merits due to the depth of the names.
Joshua’s best wins in my opinion: Wladimir (older than in the Fury fight, but still KO’d an ATG) Povetkin (second only to Wlad in his generation, only lost to Wlad) Parker (still a top 5 heavy, titleholder at the time) Ruiz (defeated his conqueror in immediate rematch) Pulev (another top name of his generation, Olympian who had only lost to Wlad) Whyte (both were at similar positions in their career. So a good win for the time, and Whyte went on to be a top contender for a while) Wallin (was pretty hyped up after the scare he gave Fury. Joshua utterly dominated him) For Fury, his best wins are: Wlad (first person to beat him in a long time. Very passive fight overall) Wilder (huge props for taking this fight when he did. I had him winning all 3) after that it’s a bit harder. Whyte maybe? He was a contender but past his best, and I have a better version of him at 6 on my Joshua list. Chisora? The first fight was a good win at the time, but the other 2 matches were a waste of Fury and everyone’s time. maybe Cunningham? Though he was a cruiser really and gave Fury a lot of trouble. Wallin? Another who I think is a good fighter, but he is way down Joshua’s list and also took Fury close. Ultimately, for a fighter I rate so highly, Fury’s resume is so frustrating.
That's a good point. I've never thought about it. Fury rankings always will be linked to Wilder rankings. If you rate Wilder highly, Fury's resume instantly becomes better.
AJ fans on some major copium AJ hasn't got a patch on Fury and has already been surpassed by Dubious. He got outjabbed, outfought, outsexed, outgamed, outtalked by Dubious. AJ is just a wasteman not a roadman. Fury is taking a year out to let AJ get chinned into retirement then Turki will miss Fury enough to give him $1billion to return and fight Dubious who will be reigning champ at this point...or maybe Joe Parker will have executed him leaving his best mate Tyson to step in.
Belts don't particularly mean anything to me. Especially now in the mulit belt era. Defending a 'belt' against the likes of Spillka and Breazeale doesn't get me hard. Ali vs Frazier 2 had no belts on the line. Does that mean Wilder beating Gerald Washington with a belt on the line is a better win? I don't think so. Similar to the David Haye HW 'world title' run. He only got that fringe belt because the last holder unified and his org give it to someone else then. It's a load of nonsense. Who you beat is what matters.
The thing is it did mean something to you. Like everyone else in the world you considered AJ and Wilder the top two from when AJ beat Martin until Ruiz beat AJ.
Charles martin literally is the worst HW 'World champion' in the history of the sport. Joshua scalping him because his promoter had the most wonga means jack diddly scat to me. It's up there with his win over Gary Cornish.
Fury has the bigger wins (dethroned Wlad away, dethroned Wilder away), both ranked No.1 aside from himself when he beat them. Joshua has twice as many losses and losses to three men rather than one. Three of Joshua’s four losses were upsets, in large part because his “resume” was overrated (and hilariously it still is).
