Have you actually seen any other fight with Norton? Do you know that he nearly beat a prime Holmes while past his own prime?

Yeah just watched the Holmes fight Norton clearly lost i had it 10-5 Holmes. Point is you can't judge a fighter at one weight class just because they lost to someone who has a tough style for them even if the fighter they lost to wasn't a great fighter.

    Interesting you had it 10-5.

    I had it 8-7 Holmes.

There were a few close rounds i gave to Holmes because he was more active and landing more shots even though Norton might have landed the hardest shots in those rounds so I can see it anywhere from 8-7 Holmes to 10-5 Holmes hard to give the fight to Norton in my view.

That’s not the same as a tiny Manny having beaten Marg though is it.

    10-5? Way to wide imo.

But any way you slice it Norton did much more at HW than JMM at WW. And he proved against Holmes that he was generally poison for boxers, not only Ali.

There were a lot of close rounds that I gave to Holmes because I preferred his work but I can see it as close as 8-7 Holmes though can't see Norton winning.
Sure but neither did much relatively speaking besides being a bad stylistic match up for ATG boxers (though tbh I thought he beat Bradley at the weight as well)

Norton was in The Ring's annual rankings for seven consecutive years. Two of those as nr. 1 contender and two as nr. 2. And he was hell not only for one but two consensus top 5 ATG HWs. One who was in his prime when he himself wasn't. That's a very solid career and far more than JMM did at WW.

P4P though Marquez was a much better fighter and ATG while Norton is not. Bit unfair to compare a fighters entire career at one weight with someone who had success in multiple

So this was your statement that I responded to:

"If Ali was just a great heavyweight why did he lose to Norton who did nothing at the weight other then beat Ali."

Do you acknowledge it was wrong?

It can be applied to Marquez at WW concerning Pac, but much less so to Norton at HW. That is what we have been discussing you and I. Simple as that. Not what the struggles with JMM do or don't do to Pac's p4p standing. So can you just do the simple thing and admit that you were wrong?

It was a hyperbolic statement not meant to be taken seriously just to show the absurdity of the argument that was being made

It's impressive in a p4p.sense but at welterweight I wouldn't put Manny over guys like Mosley, Quartey etc.

I think missing out on Crawford is a bigger screw up for Mayweather legacy wise than not fighting Pacquiao

    I can’t see that.

Because the fight with Manny was always there to make.

    The fight with Terence wasn’t.

Those fights were near the end of Ali's career.

Mayweather got beaten by Castillo, twice arguably, mid career.
