If Bridgerweight had been created several decades ago how would it have effected the light heavy, cruiserweights and smaller heavyweight careers of fighters in the past?

It may have had more respect by this point, new weight divisions typically gain more respect the longer they’re around.

Imo, minimal impact just like today. Guys want the dollars and prestige of the heavyweight title. Guys like Uysk could fight at Bridgerweight but they know it's a bull**** division.

The Cruiserweight division was pretty much a wasteland for years in the 80's. Not until Holyfield and Qawi did it really start to get any attention. Maybe someday Bridgerweight will catch on the same way but I honestly doubt it.

Which fighters from the past would have been responsible for this division gaining respect?

It would been most heavyweights throughout history, Ali, Holmes, Holyfield, even some of the bigger men like Lewis weighed that much and may have even still been able to cut water weight and make that weight later on in his career.

Not really, both ended up being HW champion anyways. Same with Haye.

No one is great because of what they did at CW.

Why would the best HWs of their eras, decide to fight at Bridgerweight, where there would have been substantially less money and prestige available?

The way Bridgerweight is set up its not going to take away fighters that believe they can contend at HW its going to take away depth.

The main damage CW has done to boxing has been to LHW not to HW btw. The big reason I support BW over CW is BW just effects HW while CW takes away from both of them.

This division was the answer to a question nobody asked. Nobody was asking for more weight classes in boxing.
