Tyson Fury's Last Meaningful Win

I was on a free bar night out on the Usyk rematch. I had a lad from Wigan with strongest accent ever none stop waffling down my ear throughout the fight. Didn’t mind though as it looked as though Fury was bossing it. Everyone in the place was shocked at the result but I am normally impervious to the lesser clued up on the sport.

Did he really definitely lose? I really need to watch again, but you clever bunch all said he defo did.

 

Fury vs Wilder III - 3 years and 3 months ago. Your maths isn't very good to say the least! I would say that was Fury's last good win.

Whyte's last 'good' win was even longer than that ago, Rivas or Parker, neither exactly top drawer opponents. 5+ years ago. Remember Whyte as spoken about as a potential world champion.

Joshua's last decent win was Povetkin and that is stretching it. 6+ years ago.

Joyce's last meaningful win was Parker and that's not exactly a top win either. 2+ years ago.

It's Dubois who is very much the top and only Brit doing stuff at the top, with Fabio Wardley steaming up behind him. Don't count out Wardley. Okolie is in the mix too. The man to really watch is Moses Itauma, who would probably go through all of them except perhaps the new Dubois.

I have to mention though as I simply cannot help it, and as a Scot, the only one out of the lot to be undisputed, Josh Taylor, hasn't had a win at all for four years just about. Unfortunately I think it may be over for Josh and he may as well pack it in as he has done brilliantly well. I think the way he carried on after the Catterall robbery left a sour taste but people have to understand he's a fighter through and through and obviously a bit rough around the edges to say the least. That shouldn't tarnish what he has achieved. He might have one big win left in him but I can't see it.

Dillian Whyte wasn't bad.

 

3 years and 3 months isn't five years no matter how you try to fiddle with it.

 

Well, I think Parker deserves a little more respect. He has the fourth best resume after Usyk, Joshua, and Fury. He fought a who's who of in-form fighters over the years, and is about to get in with another.

 

Difficult question. Whyte had taken that KO loss to Povetkin, but he was still top 5. Wilder was already past his prime in fight 3 (consensus on Wilder 2 was the last hurrah). It's not really a good win for Fury to keep fighting the same guy he had the beating of. People forget no one wanted to see that fight. It only turned into a great spectacle because of the bad shape Fury showed up in. However, I think I would still say Whyte was a meaningful win just based on rankings, and given he was long overdue a title shot. If it is based on Fury actually beating an opponent still in their prime, then it was Wilder 2. But I am going to go with Whyte.

Whyte. He was the mandatory for the WBC belt and consensus Top 5 contender in the world. Very good win by Fury.

 

The Rivas win has to be caveated by the fact he pissed dirty and had moody gloves as well.

So that can't even really be included

 

Hardly. That would be like discounting Fury’s win over Waldo because he failed a test in the build up to that fight.

 

I mean he failed the test the week of the fight so it has to be considered surely
