He truly is the Mexican monster, took on a tough fight and beat him up

I feel like Canelo would fight him but now that DB is at 175, maybe he might call for a CW. I'd still like to see it, I think it would do big buisness.

The sloppy staggering brawl we just saw, which he barely won, if that.

Acknowledging of course, that my opinion doesn't count for a great deal at 6 am, since I may choose to replace reality with one I like better.

I think Bivol is faster and that will be the difference. He will tire out Benavidez from all the miss swing. Also if Bivol can take Beterbiev power I don't see Benavidez giving him much trouble.

Good fight but not as good as I hoped it was going to be. I didn't score it but I'm felt Benavidez was a clear winner. Disappointed in Morrell's effort though. He was brave but this obviously came too early for him and he wasn't battle tested enough and he fought tense and didn't put enough thought into what he was doing. I noticed him take a deep breath in the 1st or 2nd with a look of concern etched across his face and as soon as I clocked that I thought to myself he's getting stopped in the second half of the fight. To his credit he toughed it out though.

I'll have to watch the KD again as I missed the replay and that point deduction looked bogus to me. It looked like Benavidez is the one who was punching after the bell due to being embarrassed by the KD and Morrell just cracked him back with one of his own. But maybe I got that wrong.

Not too sure what to make of Benavidez's chances against the winner of Beterbiev vs Bivol after that performance. He did well but the best version of him I'm used to seeing down at 168 would've closed the show. But that's probably just a size thing and his power not being as effective up at LHW

Excellent contest between 2 undefeated fighters at or approaching their peak. David Benavidez deservedly won the fight but credit also to Morrell who hung in tough.

It's even more frustrating to see people on here scoring those punches as legit 'landing on the legal scoring area' punches. That's why I don't bother reading most people's cards.

They have absolutely no idea that they have absolutely no idea. Then they'll argue their card is legit against someone else's...lol.

The internet didn't used to suck this hard 20 years ago.

I think Benavidez was more accurate though!

DB has good power but not the fight ending power up at 175 he would need against a Bivol or Beterbiev. Interested to see where he goes next, if Bivol and Beterbiev are somehow occupied with a third fight, then would like to see DB vs Buatsi/Smith winner

Morrell is good but he might want to go back to 168, he has probably given up some of his sharpness following DB to 175.

True, but a lot more of Benavidez’s punches got through. Morrell was visibly in a ton of pain and his lower left side was red from all the body shots.

Just to add the scorecards in this thread were all over the place which means there was quite a few swing rounds in this fight.

But for me outside of the 11th round i thought Benavidez did the better work in the 2nd half of the fight and he was just the more busy fighter overall and landed the more eye catching punches especially to the body.

I think 2 of the scorecards were fine as that's exactly how i had it 8-4 for Benavidez but obviously the 118-108 was terrible end of.

I could see a few different scorecards but i do feel like the right man won the fight even with the harsh point deduction for Morrell for me he just wasn't quite busy enough in the 2nd half of the fight.

Good fight. Morrel couldn’t get past the guard, while getting his own split or gone around. Uppercuts and hooks behind the arms were there all night for Benavidez. I didn’t score it but it was clearly a Benavidez win.

Yeah that's nice. But that doesn't change the fact that Morrell was given zero credit by most of you for clearly landing the cleaner more accurate work in many of the rounds, he rightfully should've edged.
