Can't believe it either, but Martin Bakole and his promoter Ben Shalom confirmed, that the fight with AJ is basically made. They are to meet in the summer in Congo after Bakole's fight with Ajagba.

Can’t believe AJ is taking this one at this stage of his career. Bakole will uppercut him into the rafters.

"It's done. I'm hearing it's signed" - Ben Shalom. So maybe not made yet, but pretty damn close to it.

Well that don’t make much sense. If bakole beats Ajagba, wouldn’t he be in line next for a shot at either Dubois or Usyk. Why would he risk that for a non title fight with nothing at stake besides african bragging rights in a place which ain’t exactly a world boxing hotbed?

If Joshua takes this fight respect to him whether you like him or not this is a dangerous fight and a very loseable fight for him putting all his eggs in one basket.

Joshua may still believe that he can win, or he is no longer afraid because he has nothing to lose, in any case this could turn out to be a good fight...

Dunno. Bakole is willing to face AJ and is pretty excited for the opportunity.

It's a winnable fight for AJ even at that stage. Bakole would be a fair favorite, but I heard their sparring were very competetive, and Bakole has really slow legs, no head movement and lacks good defense, so I wouldn't be surprised if AJ clipped him. Bakole took a lot from Anderson, but AJ is no Anderson when it comes to punching power. He still can crack. Nobody recently hurt Dubois like he did in the 5th round.

The only right hand Joshua landed clean on Dubois in the 5th round and he almost turned the fight on its head despite taking a pasting throughout the entire fight.

Bakole isn't as fast as Dubois either and he's more of a thudding puncher rather than a explosive puncher like Dubois.

But Joshua looked tame when Dubois put him under pressure so I'm not sure how he's going to deal with a juggernaut like Bakole who's going to put him under real pressure from the opening bell.

But maybe Joshua can land something big on Bakole and halt him in his tracks ? Remember Hunter caught Bakole with a counter shot and stopped him so he can be stopped. Also Bakole doesn't have a solid jab that put Joshua on the defensive vs Dubois.

Bit surprised. In Congo as well? Interesting. We do know Bakole likes his stories, but other than Fury who seemingly has no interest in AJ, AJ does not have much other options other than Fury and Bakole.

I think Bakole is a bit overrated on this forum.

I don't rate Ajagba that much but I have a feeling that Bakole will show some flaws and put in somewhat of a sloppy performance against him but still winning though. As for the AJ V Bakole fight. AJ can win this, I'm not a big fan of him, but AJ can win this fight. Will be interesting to see what AJ's tactic's will be because he prefers to box off the back foot, even though he is clearly much better as an aggressive fighter.

It's hard to predict what will happen. I'll be a lot more confident in my prediction after Bakole V Ajagba. But, I think that AJ is desperate to prove a point, he will be going for it from the first bell and it will pay off. I think AJ will look to push Bakole with the jab and the right on the front foot, not off the back-foot and he will actually try and get Bakole's respect early and land some big shots early considering Bakole's footwork is poor and he is hittable - he is like a tree in a way. AJ will look impressive and he will be in control of the fight whilst wearing down Bakole heavily and getting a late TKO with Bakole's corner waving it off.

Good fight, but bizarre matchmaking to the point of 'I'll believe it when it's official'. Bakole's in line for a title shot if he beats Ajagba, while AJ could beat up the corpse of Whyte or Wilder to rebuild instead of picking a dangerous low-reward fight like this. Why would he avoid big-money Dubois rematch for the title to fight low-money equally dangerous Bakole?

    I just don't buy it.

Fair play to Joshua who has more balls than the other guy

This proves he only didn't take the dubouis rematch because he thought Fury was next
Risky fight for Aj and potentially a career ender

It's a great fight for fans and isn't going to points
