Only if you if you live in cartoon world where you think being a monster means running through everyone no matter how good. Prime Tyson struggled with a couple of gatekeepers like quick Tillis. Benavidez fought another monster last night who could take a lot of punishment. I think both their stocks went up. Morrell would demolish Canelo's last 4 opponents.
the win could age really well for Benavidez.[/QUOTE] It could also age really bad for Benavidez. There were rumors going around that Morrell was getting beat up in sparring for this fight.
Wow that is a trip When watching live with a room full of screaming people it definitely appeared as a knockdown. thanks for sharing that!
Benavidez is a good boxer but he is no monster at LHW. He has a habit of moving straight back with his head up. Eventually he's going to pay for that. If his stock fell, it's because it was over-inflated in the first place.
Why do people keep saying this? I didn’t hear annyone mention experience when Madrimov (9 fights, less than Morrell) took Crawford to deep waters. If Madrimov had 20 fights would people now say he would beat Crawford?
They replayed that to make sure it was a legit knockdown during the fight and They said it was a legit knock down. How they hell did they miss that? Punch didn't even land and their foot were tangled.
Benavidez is on a roll. His last 10 opponents have been either good or very good. He's taken two 0's and has never been in trouble. All wins are decisive. What's to hate? Canelo is clearly ducking him, so his resume and stock being good despite being ducked is all the more impressive.
Benavidez stock was never really as high to me as most had him. The "Mexican Monster" persona really came from how he did his lesser and smaller opponents. Mike Tyson just happen to give it a name so everyone ran with it. DM isn't elite but he is a damn good fighter. Young as well. He's also closer to Benavidez's natural size than Benavidez's previous opponents. I get that Benavidez fanbase would love for the Canelo/Bivol/Beterbiev fight to happen and I'm not going to say it wouldn't be welcomed by myself. I'm not even going to say Benavidez can't make it exciting and possibly win vs one of the 3. But the notion that he is avoided needs to be put to rest. He's a world class fighter, but he doesn't possess anything that puts fear in the hearts of those 3 I mentioned. As flat foot as the man is. Morrell showed us what a little movement can do to Benavidez's defense and accuracy.
