    Per a pretty credible source, there is already an agreement in place for this matchup to be Canelo's tuneup on Cinco de Mayo weekend ahead of his superfight with Terence Crawford during Mexican Independence Day week this fall.

    I cannot imagine this would be for any of Álvarez's super middleweight titles (Ring Magazine, WBA, WBC, and WBO) seeing as Paul has completed exclusively at cruiserweight and heavyweight.

    Many had speculated that Canelo would seek to fully unify, reabsorbing the IBF belt currently held by William Scull back into the fold to sweeten the pot against Bud Crawford. It has to be said, however, that for casual/mainstream audiences a Jake Paul event raises the profile of the September match many times over what it would be on the heels of a victory over Scull (virtually an unknown save to boxing diehards).

    Yep I saw this from some credible sources as well. I actually hope it happens as Canelo is fighting nobody of interest lately anyway and there is a big part of me that is blood thirsty to see Jake Paul get seriously hurt and KTFO. Canelo would be doing boxing a service IMO and he can end the fight at any moment he chooses.

    I hope it is a prolonged beating but I reckon as soon as Canelo lets go any half decent power shot whether to the head or body that Paul will fall and stay down just because he won't want anymore.

    Actually would love for this fight to happen, can't lose either way! If Jake gets crushed, awesome! If Canelo loses, awesome!

    Canelo will whoop JPs ass but I don't see how it gets him ready for Crawford who is an Elite talent.

    Wow that would be highlight reels KO. As large as Paul is in comparison, Canelo isn't 60 y.o., nor is he a retired MMA fighter. There are levels, and Paul will find it via brutal KO loss.

    True, but at least Scull is ranked and has the IBF to offer, it's a money grab and the people will buy it because Jake Paul has become a thorn in everybody's ass as of late and people want to see it but I don't look at Paul as a real tuneup imo. I'm starting to think Crawford with his mentality might have a chance at doing some good work on Canelo.
