Anyone else have Benavidez vs Morrell closer

Nope.

Thought the first could’ve gone either way but in the end only gave Morrell 2nd, 3rd, KD round (9-8) and the last.

 

It doesn't matter. Morrel blew the fight by not using enough lateral movement.

That surprised me aswell he was doing quite well with the movement/counters in the early rounds then he seemed to get lured into a brawl by Benavidez.

 

I had the 1st round even as I didn't think either man did enough to win it. After that I had it 8 rounds to 3 Benavidez. Morrell just didn't throw enough punches as I thought he appeared confused, not surprising for a guy with 11 fights.

 

Benavidez won 8 rounds IMO. Morrell just had a hard time keeping up with the pace, didn't throw enough despite bursting in combos occasionally, and allowed himself to get outworked. Morrell still put up an admirable effort and showed that he belonged in the ring with Benavidez. Did well enough to warrant a future rematch.

 

I had it 86-85 Benavidez through nine. (R1, 3, 5 & 8 to Morrell; R2, 4, 6-7, and 9 to Benavidez)

Tenth was close to Benavidez, nudging his lead to 96-94.

Eleventh was a 10-8 for Morrell and should have tied it up at 104 apiece, but with the point deduction becomes just 9-8 for Morrell. That makes it 104-103 Benavidez.

Twelfth was a rare 10-10 round for me, with a final score of 114-113 Benavidez. Close as it gets. Contest decided by the referee imposed deduction.


Even had I given Morrell the last round it still would have only netted him a 113-113 draw.

But 118-108 remains a TERRIBLE card.

 

I did, but I was drunk and belligerent. 115-11 is a good score. A little closer is possible, a little wider too - 118, not so much.
