Does anyone ever give any worth to amateur records in these discussions if the record is freakish?

Say Uysk is 335-15 which is insane.

Of course it's just my opinion, that's the whole point of boxing forums though, to share that opinion.

But for, it's because he never took the easy road. He fought the best in the world, in their own back yard, time and time again, fully unifying two divisions despite being the b side every single time.

It's genuinely awe inspiring what he achieved.

Not as much as being a Flyweight, Featherweight and Welterweight champion, but definitely more impressive than Floyd.

    It’s all subjective.

I would say that Usyk’s best wins are absolutely comparable to Floyd’s best wins.

Like I mentioned earlier, if Floyd had fought prime versions of his opponents, then he’d just have a monster resume and would probably be the GOAT. But he didn’t. They were either mostly faded, badly faded or pre-prime.

Usyk has some very good wins. But many of them aren’t rated really highly, simply because they don’t have the same name recognition.

    Who has better longevity?
    More ranked wins?

To me, that’s not as important as:

The overall quality of the opposition.

The amount of risk that has been taken.

The degree of difficulty/the stylistic challenge.

Well it means a lot to me
I think cotto, hernandez, castillo, Hatton, canelo mosley (though old), pacquiao, judah, corrales etc easily measure up to bellew, gassiev, chisora and Co

Floyd has way better punch stats too
Yes Usyk was more daring, at least more than money version, but could call the shots

Floyd has as many ranked wins as usyk has fights, I'll leave it at that

    If you disagree? Fine

    It’s fine to disagree.

That’s the beauty of the debate.

I think Usyk’s opponents stack up, because most of them were tougher match ups, as they were prime.

    Hunter
    Breidis
    Bellew

They’re better than wins over a faded Shane etc.

But like I’ve said, they just haven’t got the same name value.

Look at Floyd’s most notable win in Manny.

    He was faded and injured.

So how’s that better than beating a motivated Fury, whilst giving up 50 pounds?

A prime Manny was on another level to Tyson.

But again, when you look at the specific versions who Floyd fought, they’re not anywhere near as impressive as what they would have been had they have been prime.

I’ll take a win over AJ, above a win over JMM, who was dragged up 2 weight classes and cheated on the scales.

I’ll take a win over Fury, over one over a faded and inactive Oscar, who retired 2 fights later.

They were harder challenges against tougher opponents.

No, I am serious, Floyd is technically not as great and his resume is worse. I am just biased against usyk

It is clear to anyone who watches boxing, he is way more skillful than Floyd.

I've changed my mind.. it think it depends on how u value men who are the size of most 12 year olds .. because down at those weights you can have 15 to 20lbs separating 3/4 divisions.. most HWs shart that out after a hot curry.. yet at the small weights you get this multi division great moniker if you move up a few pounds & passed off like you're light years ahead of anyone in boxing, when it reality it's just failed genetics & clever marketing.

    Pacquiao.

Resume speaks for itself. In the historical context, it’s the only thing that lasts.

You're forgetting Calzaghe beat Hopkins, in Hopkins home country. Hopkins (and Jones) were always afraid to fight Joe in the UK. Don't give me the nonsense about Hopkins being faded, he went on to beat Pavlik, Pascal and Cloud afterwards.

Joe Calzaghe was a truly great fighter who always found a way to win.
