one of the few 80's and 90's fighters i don't know a lot about. Left hander. How good was he? What were his strengths and weaknesses?

Outstanding fighter that was pretty much a top 3-5 guy the entire time he was fighting. Very good technically, good power and very solid defensively. The man really was only decisively beaten by prime Roy. Split decision losses to Toney, Tarver, Castro twice. I thought he beat Castro at least once. He very oddly skipped the Suoer Middleweight division where he likely would have won a world title there which would have made him a three weight world champ.

He also one of the only men that ever legit hurt James Toney.

I know it wasn't aimed at me but I 'd say no. He was a lot slower, heavier and disininterested imo by that point and even in his much sharper, finessed and primed incarnation at 160 never had the right style, number of gears or degree of dynamism needed to beat Roy at any point. He'd nabbed a belt off Guthrie who was very mediocre.

very good fighter at his best though. Mobile, defensively acute, technically sharp, tough and poised with well disguised punches and ok pop. One paced and a bit insular though with a lowish workers and a tendency to slow down in the later rounds. Unlucky not to get the nod against Toney or in one of the Castro fights really but didn't do enough to pull away when the opportunity was there.

I would. Reggie was very underrated imp. I liked him more at 160 but he still had some solid wins/performances at 175.

Probably the most underrated Middleweight of the 90s. I thought He was excellent. Good boxer, who could also fight when He needed to. Very smart, very skillfull.
Like @AwardedSteak863 said, argument could be made that his first genuine championship(There is an early career loss too which I don't know if anyone saw) loss was to Roy Jones Jr, far past his prime.

Reggie was really solid up until the very end as well. Maybe the Tarver Split Decision result is a bit misleading since He was dominated there - but He ended his career with a win over Julio Cesar Goznalez who just gave Clinton Woods tough fight for a world title.
