Sounds ridiculous? Agreed. Bad for the sport? Yes. Good for the fans? no But how realistic is this? I was reading and article that had an interview with Archie Moore while he was an active fighter (I believe 1950s this interview took place) where he said he needed to have a warmup fight since he hadn't fought in 2 months. Last night I was watching Trinidad-Campas again from the mid 90s and the announcers mentioned this was Trinidad's first fight in 7 months and how long of a layoff it was and how he's lucky he could get away with that due to his youth Fast forward to today and we are lucky to see the top guys fight twice a year, sometimes they make an annual appearance. So my question is, could we get to the top guys only fighting once every other year?, is it likely?
The list of the all the hall of famers he beat is there for all to see. No one has ever beat that many hall of famers. There's fights of plenty of the great opponents he beat to watch. All the reports from his fights are there to read, all the quotes from great fighters who fought him or watched him are there to read,, as well as knowledgeable boxing historians and writers. He couldn't be anything other than an absolute ****ing beast with a capital B.
For champions it should be every four to five months IMHO unless you have a genuine injury. Crawford is a great fighter but him fighting every year is a disgrace, and the world title organisations, WBC, IBF, WBA, etc need to stand up to this, and start stripping for inactivity. Luckily, Turki gives us hope. Thurman and Charlo take the absolute p***.
Are you saying that there are a lot of harry greb's fights on youtube? could you link us one, please? Was it irony? I'm pretty bad detecting irony
