It's pretty easy. Go watch the presser for Fury v Cunningham and Cunningham and his coach describe how they're gonna chop dat tree down. If the ref hadn't let da big man lean on Steve with head and forearms it would have worked. As the ear-eater said, 'Everyone has a plan until Fury leans on dem with his head'.

I'm surprised of reading here that beating a taller oponent is "izi pizi" an that "you only need to do this or that".

Imho beating a taller oponent (huge difference of reach, not a t-rex taller oponent) is one of the most difficult things to do in boxing. Most of the time the only way is trading blood and neurons for victory.

To overcome the reach disadvantage the difference in skill/power needs to be huge.

Two equally skilled, equally hard punchers fighters, one being way taller than the other, my money will always be on the taller guy. Nevermind the plan. Always. Can I be wrong once in a blue moon? yes, ofc, once in a blue moon.

It’s kind of a silly question that’s why.
It displays a very poor/basic understanding of the sport.
But as I’ve said before several times, I’ve noticed this is a forum for ppl who later in life wish they understood boxing, not ones that actually do and have grown up in the sport.
unfortunately, newcomers to the sport then read stuff from these guys and the misinformation continues as these are usually the loudest voices.

Pro boxing is a sport of beating each other up, not a height competition. Weight is the bigger advantage, hence we have weight classes and not height classes.

in any fight, whoever implements themselves better usually wins.

heights are irrelevant to the result, they just give a potential advantage by offering a further option of using reach.
Having the option to use reach is not a big advantage unless they have skills to implement it.
these skills have to be superior to the shorter fighter to implement it successfully.

Also, good timing beats reach everytime.

Holy ****!! what a stupid message! Height and reach doesnt matter? It matters onlyh weight? holy moly!!

How many figthers taller than you have you fought? I wonder, have you ever fought? Reading your comment I very much doubt it.

And you say you understand boxing? I'm surprised you know how to write the word, tbh.

For someone questioning others fighting experience, isn't it appropriate that you comment on your own?

Sorry kid, but just chill on the outrage. ive lived the sport since a young age.
I know this basic detail may have rattled your understanding of boxing but just relax and I can teach you a bit.

Weight is more important than anything, hence we have weight classes.

if height is the sole important factor, why are the champs not always the tallest in the division?

skills, timing, accuracy, speed, power, strength, heart etc all matter way more than height.

height and reach are good to have, but they aren’t everything, far from it.
if a taller guy is beating you, it’s because he is better than you in some or all other areas, such as skills, timing, footwork, defence, stamina etc
