Please don't talk about this Francis if it's not gonna happen... I have wanted to see this for so long. :ibutt Probably the two heaviest-handed men in all of combat sports, who can't really box, but who can put each other to sleep in a second... it's like the polar opposite of Fury-Usyk and I'm all for it... Imagine they meet in the centre of the ring and just start swinging windmills at each other! I think Wilder hits harder than Ngannou though... Ngannou's power has only been proven in MMA gloves. Imagine Wilder in MMA gloves... in fact scrap that, imagine Wilder doing bare knuckle! That should probably be illegal... he might get that body on his record he's always wanted. Having said all that though, I do think Wilder has sadly lost his killer instinct, which was the only thing that made him any good. I mean, the last time he knocked someone spark out, he cried about it later in the press conference. Like wtf? :crazylick: I do think people need to give Ngannou a bit of leeway though... he's not your typical MMA-turned-boxer... his dream from being a kid was always to box, never do MMA. It was only when he arrived in France that an MMA guy took him under his wing and got him to do MMA... he didn't want to do it at first but got convinced. And no matter how bad Fury was on that night, you don't perform like that against Fury unless you've got something about you. He even surprised me with his boxing ability... I expected him to be cluelessly swinging windmills all night and for Fury to outbox him in every round. As for the Joshua defeat, I don't think that really should define Ngannou as Joshua could potentially do that to anybody... it's the heavyweight division after all. I'd like to see him in with a "lesser", heavyweight, maybe Chisora, Miller or Takam, something like that... so we can really get a better clue of what kinda level he's at.

Edit: Really didn't mean for this post to be that long.... yikes.

Wilder doesn't have it anymore. He loses to any live body they put him in with.

I’d favor Ngannou at this point. Not only has Wilder looked terrible, but recall all that grappling and bullying that Fury did to Wilder. Ngannou would be even better at that.

if Wilder wants a cash-out, he should pursue Jake Paul. He could go out doing a good deed by removing Paul’s head. (As an aside, I loved Beterbiev immediately volunteering to do it right after the Tyson fight, wish Paul had taken him up on it)

The audacity to be 0-2 in the sport and think you can just call your shot. :shakehead:

Ofcourse I hope that the Wilder of old will return but I just don’t think that’s going to happen.

Nice fight. I'd pick Ngannou. Wilder is a terrible boxer.

    It's hard to tell...

In theory, yes, because in theory Wilder in a former champion boxer with multiple defences and that carries with it the assumption of decent professional level boxing skills and a decent resume.
But in reality, we all know Wilder had unusually poor fundamentals for a champion and his defences were overwhelmingly trash for championship defences.

Both Ngannou and Wilder floored an unfit Fury, both ultimately lost... That's the only real frame of reference we have - it's the only shared opponent.

It's just really hard to tell unless we really simplify it - both have underdeveloped fundamentals, both have power, both have heart... Ngannou has a decent chin, Wilder doesn't particularly - and Ngannou is physically (and mentally) in better shape.

Wilder was never close to the equal of Joshua - people assuming Wilder does the business just because Joshua did are oversimplifying this to an extent that no evidence backs up, IMHO.

I would really like Wilder to put Ngannou to sleep, who is greedy and imposes himself everywhere after he became conceited because he was good against Fury...

That Wilder is gone... He's only interested in fighting half decent fighters for half decent money these days - gone are the days of fighting bums for peanuts, they went out with the belt ;)

Wilder seems to be running on fumes right now. I'll bet Ngannou wants the fight

I guess you never watched Wilder vs Stiverne 1, Wilder vs Ortiz 2, or Wilder vs Parker. Wilder can be cautious and wary, he isn't a mindless aggressive slugger who swings for the fences with non stop pressure.

Ngannou is wide open to the straight shot down the pipe. That's Wilders money shot.

I was a fan of ngannou but he is pathetic when he still demands a fight with an ex world champion while his boxing skills , especially footwork and defence , are prooved to be more clublevel than world class.

If it happens then ngannou will take a nap on the canvas early since even a shot wilder will easily find holes in ngannou,s defence to land a flush straight on his chin .
