By hypejob I mean this narrative I’ve heard that Parker has got significantly better recently. Not about his whole career. I believe Parker is at his mental peak for this fight though but he’s still the same calibre of fighter as he’s always been.
He's fought himself back in to contention. Nothing wrong with that. And if you believe others are going overboard, well, you are just the flip side to that.
I don’t believe he deserved this fight with Dubois. He should have been made to fight one more contender, a younger one like Kabayel.
I think he deserves it more than AJ did after he ran the murderer's row of Franklin, Ngannou and Wallin.
Parkers biggest weakness was always his ring generalship and his complete inability to cut off the ring, which was exposed massively in the Cojanu, Whyte and Hughie Fury fights. A lot of talk of Wilder being shot, but Parker holding center ring and walking Wilder down was the most refreshing thing I have seen from him. It was a very controlled and disciplined 12 round performance and he looked like a predator in there. Same for the Zhang fight. He also knocked down Chisora x3 times, which few HWs have done. Parker was a very conservative, stand and trade fighter. Ask anyone who has followed Kevin Barry trained boxers and they will tell you what you get. Parker is a different fighter under Andy Lee. Ring generalship, head movement and actually using a high guard are some of the flaws that have rectified. He is a very high calibre all rounder. If not at the highest level, he is the danger man of the HW rankings right now, as his resume suggests. You have not watched his career.
It would be ironic if Parker shat on this thread by making Dubois quit, but it would be even funnier if Dubois ran thru him and blasted him away. If Parker can't take away that jab it's over lol. Parker is a bit overrated tbh
I have watched all his high profile fights and his poor performance vs Jack Massey and when he knocked that Kean guy out with the uppercut
Well I think you were not paying attention if you think he is the same calibre of fighter. He would not be challenging for belts if he had not evolved.
Parker’s only chance of winning is the aligning of the stars. I’ll explain that after the fight only if it comes to it.
Wilder (currently 39) coming off a 1 round KO against Helenius, who was supposed to blast through Parker to fight AJ. Zhang (currently 41) is a bit of an anomaly, and appears to not be dropping off with age with his recent performances. Your definition of "50 year olds" is interesting.
Did you watch that fight... without a pro AJ bias? Parker wasn't "nearly agressive enought" b/c he was fighting TWO people in the ring I generally like AJ, but he's always been partially protected with some of his biggest name wins vs. boxers well past their best. Soon Mr Snickers pulled back the curtain. Based on the OP & others criteria, perhaps AJ was a "hype job."
Parkers career looked all time low after losing to Joyce. Since then he has bounced back after solid activity and a few good wins. To become a solid contender again. One win away from maybe an Undisputed title fight. The bloke is paying $3 I don't think he's being overhyped but give him some credit atleast, he's in a great place and has deserved it.
