Name one fighter who isn’t either overrated or underrated? Past or present is acceptable. British or world is fine. Name just one.
Overrated. And he was one of my favourite fighters there for a while. Career highlight was round one of Froch one.
Why do you say overrated? Do you think he under or overachieved ? I think considering his prep for fight one was poor, no trainer, and then settling for Paddy, who, whilst good, was never good enough to train a world-class fighter, and the second fight was just one punch and the fact he made it back to world level, made his money was a real achievement. He wrecked his shoulder against Euabank and the Smith fight was just a cash-outl In the fight against Chudinov he showed what he is all about; shame we never got Groves v Degale 2; and I think Adam Booth was the perfect fit for him as a trainer, because of the similarities to Haye etc.
I reckon there’s probably a whole generation of ‘nearly men’ slightly above domestic level but below world champion level that fit in to this. Guys like Macklin, Barker, Rhodes etc. All respected for reaching the level that their talent was and never got any of the daft PPV hype that would class them as overrated.
Is @Beale back yet? I got banned by the mods for defending him; it only took 16 and a half years for my first ban, I'm sure he'd be all over this thread telling you how Danny Williams is underrated and Joshua is overrated and Bosh is neither cause he is what he is tosh.
Just a shame we never got all the matchups when they were all fighting; so many good domestic scraps never happened in that era.
