Clearly Bakole has been in camp, preparing in case they needed someone to step in at the last minute. So he's well prepared. Parker beat Zhang and Wilder, because they're plodding risk averse low output fighters with crappy gas tanks. It's not because he's now some super skilled master boxer, he's the exact same fighter than fight AJ, who IMO did just enough to get a draw in that one, who also should've drawn against low output Hughie. However, there's plenty of debate as to who won his matches with Takam, Fury, Ruiz and Chisora. I thought he shaded his match against Takam by a point, the Ruiz match could've gone either way, but a draw would be the best result, while I thought Chisora got brutally stiffed in the first match. Why is that? Because Parker kind of sucks against relentless pressure fighters, the likes of whom he hasn't shared the ring with since Joe Joyce. I had full confidence in Dubois walking right through him, and Bakole will do the same, brutally and possibly early, which sucks because I like Joe. But there's few guys in the sport that the phrase styles makes fights is more applicable to than Joseph Parker.
I just voted to see results but it's a pickem. Agree Parker is very proven, and best he has ever been. Bakole is also very game, very strong, underrated. He is a beast, just keeps coming all night with sickening shots that would hurt/demolish any heavyweight if not dodged. I think Parker might be too slick for Bakole if he is in top form, but if Bakole rises to the challenge and comes with maximum focus/intensity/hunger, I think he can do serious damage and get a stoppage. Bakole by KO or Parker on Points. Hope Bakole hasn't balooned to 300 pounds.
I agree, I was betting on Dubois for some of the reasons you mentioned. Bakole? If Joyce and Zhang could put him down Bakole sure can as well, now I'm not saying some of the counter arguments are not valid. Parkers boxing ability and Bakole being a seriously last minute opponent does make Parker the favorite but as I said if a plodder like Joyce and a slow footed Zhang can drop him Bakole can too. I think I'll bet that way , just have to see what the odds are later.
Parker will KO him. There is no way Bakole is in any shape for a 12 rounder, he just has to take the punt especially when getting such a lifechanging sum of money. Win or lose who can blame the man.
I definitely picked Dubois to win by knockout. But, with Bakole, I am not so sure. Bakole hits really hard, but, his resume is honestly pretty terrible. He has VERY few quality wins. In fact, he was stopped by the mediocre Michael Hunter, and barely beat the inept Tony Yoka just two years ago. I suppose it it may depend on what type of shape Bakole is in on only 2 days notice. But, then again, is Bakole ever in great shape? He is a bit like Sam Peter 2.0. But, at least his power should make this match-up interesting for the first half of the fight. If Bakole can't get Parker out of there in the first six rounds or so, he may collapse and have a heart attack from exhaustion.
He won every second of his fight with Tony Yoka. Just because the very biased French scorecards don't reflect that, the mere fact that he actually won the match in France, which is damn near impossible, tells you everything you need to know. Also the version of Michael Hunter he faced was far from mediocre, and his arm was injured for the majority of the match, reducing into a one-armed fighter.
Every head will bow and proffess for our new king Martin Bakole on Saturday night. That being said Parker isn't great a style for him who will exploit all his flaws. Bakole not busy enough down the stretch either which is where Parker normally wains. The better boxer will win excluding knock-downs. Both can knock each other down but both will probably get up.
We will just have to agree to disagree on Hunter. I never saw much special with him. And, he certainly didn't have good power. If he could stop Bakole (be it through exhaustion or punches) it does not bode well for Bakole if this fight goes past the middle rounds. I have never been super impressed with Parker, either. But, at least Parker will come in shape, and he can be expected to have the discipline to stick with his fight plan. All Bakole really has is his big clubbing punches. Less than stellar technique or defense.
Bakole will likely be over 300 lbs, he either takes Parker out in the first 3 rounds or he'll be cooked This content is protected
J-Park is reputedly bigger, stronger, more powerful and fitter now Apparently he's a career heaviest but he does look in good shape This content is protected He looks like he's still able to box, move and use his speed but will he be able to keep it up all night and keep the slow-footed Bakole off of him and avoid getting trapped on the ropes? Also, will his alleged increase in power enable him to hurt Bakole who doesn't have the best defence? I think Bakole is in good shape and is fit. He's been in camp for long while and apparently he weighs what he weighed against Anderson This is from 4 days ago Timestamped This content is protected But look what a fat, injured out of shape 300lb Bakole did to Takam. As soon as he started landing with consistency it was all over and this version is in much better shape than that version If he's able to trap and start landing with consistency against J-Park the later will find himself in big trouble. Bakole only has to hurt or stun you with a single or combinations and more will be coming thick, heavy and fast for a man of his size and those uppercuts are nasty
Bakole has apparently been in camp for 8 weeks already and was just taking a weeks break in Congo so he shouldn't be to out of shape for the fight. Parker is skilled and experienced enough that he should be able to pull of a gameplan similar to what Anderson was doing in his fight with Bakole until he got knocked down and drawn into brawling more. Parker UD, or TKO if Bakole is quite out of shape. I do wonder how much the preparation for Dubois affects it, they seemed so finely tuned for everything Dubois that it could lead Parker to make "errors" that have been drilled into him in camp.
He's got one major error to avoid -- don't stand in front of Bakole. If he can avoid doing that and can avoid getting clipped too badly, this fight is very winnable for him.
