267! To me this is playing right into Bakole's strength, no way will he be mobile at that weight. Bakole should go right at him.. Todays heavyweights,,,ugh!
That's not a proper haka mate, and most kiwis would approve of other cultures giving it a go because we're not a bunch of uptight racists lol. In any case WAR PARKER
On topic, I'm very concerned about the weight here. I hope they've managed to improve his stamina and defence to compensate.
Why go away with what brought success? I thought he already tried (and failed) to do this vs Joyce Seems like a mistake.
Far too heavy that for Parker,in the Joyce fight he weighed 255lbs and that proved to be a major F up as we all saw that night. That extra weight for the Joyce fight did not benefit him one bit and improved nothing. Now to come in almost a stone heavier than that for Bakole is plain stupidity imo !
I like Parker a lot but regardless of the result, i am glad Beterbiev-Bivol is the main event. Why? Because i don't want a main event where both men are gasping for air by the 6th round. There were so many people arguing that the heavyweight fight should always be the main event. Well i disagree. I will take 2 super skilled 175 lb guys over two overweight heavies as the main event.
267lbs is definitely concerning, Usyk being the top fighter in the division is proof size isn't everything. This fight looks far more competitive now.
Something interesting I've noticed is that the bookies are leaning towards Parker to win more AFTER the weight in.
I am shocked. I never knew he could get that big. This is way heavier than he has ever been. He started out in the 230s Has has mostly been a 240 pound guy/fighter. Not sure what the mentality was there but doesn't sound right to me. His key attribute has always been to be a mobile fighter, coming that heavy is ridiculous.
Mobility counts for nothing if you don't have the firepower to keep Dubious or Bakole honest. Parker will keep them honest but his power goes down the stretch. Bakole doesn't press in the same way as Dubious, he's somewhat haphazard, very relaxed, the fight will come to him and he'll spatula you or he'll end up getting outworked. Given he hasn't had a camp Parker should be able to outwork him over the distance, ideally Parker would be a little slimmer though for some added mobility. That bieng said he could put Bakole on his ass early...if Bakole gets sloppy.
That is pretty crazy. He and his team have been saying for quite awhile now that he's bigger, stronger, fitter and hitting harder but he did say himself that he was looking to drop some weight and come in significantly lighter than that for Dubois. Coming in that heavy against Dubois would probably be more advantageous for him than it would be coming in that heavy against Bakole but he does have naturally fast hands and maybe his power might be much more of a factor if he is indeed hitting a lot harder with the additional weight and muscle
