I'd rather have interim titles be contested over 12 rounds than have 12-rounders with nothing on the line whatsoever. That length is sacred and should be reserved for eliminators or at least some kind of hardware. It can't just be "oh this person is a big star", as has often been the case (Bernard Hopkins vs. Enrique Ornelas popularizing the modern trend IIRC)
