He spent the majority of rounds dancing, and landing the odd pot shots, most of which barely landed. That is not how you win rounds. I have no idea how anyone had this close.

117-111 is crazy but I gave it to Vergil so I won't whine much about that.

Madrimov's strategy was all over the place. If he kept the style he had in the middle rounds, he certainly would have done better. Ortiz was simply the more composed and better of the two.

Another thing. Crawford looked shock a couple of times in his fight against Madrimov. Here against Ortiz, not once did Vergil seem to be hurt. Just imagine what Canelo will do to Bud in September.

Also congrats to Ortiz. Can't wait to see Ortiz smash Fundora next.

Bring on Vergil Ortiz Jr vs Bakhram Murtazaliez next. That one would seriously be an all out war.

Contrast this card with others and I'm not naming names (cough top rank and ESPN cough) where you don't get 1 competitive fight out of like 8

    I can't quarrel with 115-113 Ortiz.

Lot of close rounds, but Ortiz was more consistent and that allowed him to shade some of the closer rounds while taking many more of the clear rounds. Hard fought but well deserved win.

I like Ortiz in that one. He's got better craft and more battle tested overall.

Fought well and adjusted after the annoying running tactics of Madrimov. I look forward to his next fight

Madrimov has to stop messing around with his hands like he's trying to land a plane.
The judged dislike that type of nonsense.
Zab started doing that nonsense with Floyd, it's a bad look.
