It was a clear change in strategy by Bivol, instead of wearing himself out early by throwing a shitton of punches, to fade down the stretch, he nicked the first three. Then let Beterbiev blows his load, then he came roaring back late with far more gas in his tank. It wasn't that hard to predict, he and his team realized they needed to dose their efforts more effectively, and they did just that.

Omg. I'd rather a guillotine, Josey.

That way if the head lands in the right place you have a split second to see yourself fill the pants...

Adames needs to watch some Beterbiev to learn how to cut off the ring FTR.

No he won 7-11 and if you only had Bivol winning 3 rounds after 6th round then I question if you can score a fight properly.

Agreed. Bivol took far more damage. Maybe he won 7 or even 8 evenish rounds on some peoples cards, but he still took heavy leather in all of them. The four Beterbiev rounds were dominant.

Not a satisfying result against a 40 year old ATG. For me the torch didn't pass, and it adds a lot of 'what if' to Beterbiev.

Currently, this is the 3rd longest RBR thread btw. It's narrowly eclipsed by the Day of Reckoning card which had 4,214 responses.

Full props to Bivol. He won IMO and he's the Undisputed Champ. I won't trash him. But I do disagree with your assessment.

Beterbiev in his prime doesn't blow his load.

He ran out of gas by going hard in rounds 4, 5 and 6. I didn't expect that because AB typically keeps a hard pace for 12. But tonight, at age 40, he could not sustain that pace.

He went 10 very hard rounds against Gvozdyk. That fighter is gone.

Yes Beterbiev is old and a prime version would stop Bivol but it's remarkable he was even able to perform at the level he did at his age against a way younger, faster, top 4 or maybe too 3 P4P super skilled elite like Bivol who is the worst stylistic match up out there for him. Name another 40 y/o who can do that? You're going to have to give that some thought because it sure as hell doesn't happen often at all
