Do you think it might be time Kabayel got his title shot?

  1. Yes. It's time.

    85.4%
  2. No. He needs to fight another top contender first.

    14.6%
  3. No. I have my reasons.

I want to see him get his title shot. The guy has literally had one of the hardest routes to a title shot in the last 20/30 years...
    He is undefeated
He was Euro champion including defending his EBU title against Chisora 7 years ago.
    His last three fights were:
    WBC#3 ranked contender: Mahkmudov
    WBC#2 ranked contender: Sanchez
    WBC interim title fight: Zhang
    Stops all three.

Now pick a heavyweight run before a first title shot (including, Wilder, Fury, Joshua, Parker, etc. || maybe not Whyte) and compare...Usyk said he only has two fights remaining. If his weakness is actually body shots, and Kabayel is the preeminent body puncher in the division...

Instead, Usyk will fight Dubois again, a guy he stopped with a jab. It's getting a bit ridiculous how much the British contingent are keeping their guys in title fights. Dubois should be fighting Parker as was planned.

    Time for Kabayel

If I'm understanding correctly Kabayel now has the WBC Interim and mandatory title shot? If so I think he is next in line for Usyk after Parker with his WBO mandatory position.

But Usyk and Dubois might also decide to unify which could push it out. But these days so much of it depends on what Turki wants to see. If he wants to see Kabayel in with Usyk, thats what we'll get, if he'd rather reunify the titles and put him in with Parker instead, then thats whats likely to happen.

In normal times though, I would say that Kabayel has worked his way into a mandatory position and deserves a title shot.

I would have agreed if the fight Parker had just been involved in was against Dubois rather than an unprepared Bakole. That isn't Parker's fault of course.

I also have no issues, if Usyk with his last two fights fought WBO interim Parker followed by WBC interim Kabayel.

It is as you say, but unfortunately the WBC have also been doing their part in stalling him (on behalf of someone)

He beat #3, Makhmudov, and then #2, Sanchez, and was still ranked behind Joshua (on a rebuild) and Fury (coming off his loss). His face just doesn't fit. Maybe it does now, but consider how low in the order Kabayel v Zhang (WBC interim HW title) was put on tonight's card

Kabayel is great but let's not pretend Makmudov and Sanchez were killers. They were completely unproven at this level and hype jobs. The gushing over Makmudov was insane. Stopping Zhang is Kabayel's most legit win.

Parker should be first cab off the rank for title shots

If Parker couldn’t get a title shot off of beating Zhang, Kabayel shouldn’t either.

Granted you may argue that they were overhyped, but they were still ranked #3 and #2 by the WBC. The ranking ladder has to override our personal rankings. And Sanchez was not exactly being given opportunities to prove himself after he stopped Ajagba (who some are still pretty high on). Some were also trying to discredit Kabayel's win in the aftermath due to a claimed injury to Sanchez.

Well, I would say being the first to stop Zhang puts his win above Parker's 11 months earlier. And he doesn't have a recent loss to Joyce. But, as above, I think the ladder has to count for something. WBC#3 > WBC#2 > WBC#2
What more can he do on the WBC ladder to get his shot?

    Well put points.

    To add to this.

You can can argue that Parkers win ranks higher given Zhang was coming off the back of decimating Joyce.

I'm a huge fan of both and I'm not denying that Kabayel does not warrant a challenge for the belts. I think there is a better case for Parker given he has faced my proven opponents.

Being the first to stop Zhang is definitely impressive but I’m not sure it’s on a different level of significance as Parker beating Zhang during his best run.

I think it definitely cements Kabayel in the title conversation, but I’d also say Dubois and Parker have better claims to a title shot. Seems unfair to give it to Kabayel when Parker accomplished the same feat albeit with more trouble.

I’d give Kabayel one more big fight, against either Parker or Dubois.

He's beaten literally one contender - and a 41 year old with an extremely limited gas tank at that.

That's good work and it's a great step up from him - but that puts him in the conversation now, he's nowhere near overdue a shot.

Beat another contender, preferably one who's not ancient, and the level of demand for him to get a title shot around here would be a lot easier to defend.

    After Parker.

It now comes down to Usyk, Dubois, Parker and Agit. As long as they are all worked in, its all good.

    The guy is the TRUTH

2nd best Heavyweight right now (assuming Fury is retired) and has the chance to beat Usyk with his bodyshots
