I'm an Usyk fan but I see this as his toughest fight. Kabayel is a bigger, stronger Briedis...which was one of Usyk's toughest fights. Kabayel is tough as nails, comes at you and has a high output. He just finished a tough Zhang, who has never been knocked out, with relentless pressure and hard body shots. We know the body is a bit of a weakness for Usyk, so if Kabayel can duplicate what he did tonight against Usyk, it will be a tough fight for Oleksandr. Especially now that he's close to 40 but Kabayel is in his early 30s and ascending. Would love to see this fight soon!
Comes down to Usyk, Parker, Dubois and Kabayel. As long as they all get their shot, its fine regardless of how it shakes out. Usyk wins this fight, but its a TOUGH one, with an opponent with good fundamentals, good stamina, and a killer hook the body.
Usyk would have no problems with Kabayel. Not a knock on him but his hands are too slow to trouble Olexander.
Good points! Kabayel isn't as good as Usyk at his best, but has a good style for him + there is some chance he catches him at the right time IMHO.
I like Kabayel a lot - his body punching is beautiful to watch and exceptional but I think Usyk's footwork and stamina is a big problem for Kabayel. Kabayel has never fought a master mover like Usyk - landing body shots consistently on Usyk will be very tricky. Zhang is a very strong fighter but Usyk is galaxies ahead of Zhang's footwork and stamina which was Zhang's two worst attributes that Kabayel targeted. Usyk is far too smart and skilled to stand in the centre of the ring and take such hurtful bodyshots. Yes - Usyk has struggled against these type of fighters but he has used these fights as great experience to better himself as a boxer. Usyk wide UD for me.
Kabayel is the best body puncher at Heavyweight in years. Also Usyk may have a bit of weakness to body punches so it would be fascinating to see how Usyk would deal with the stylistic challenge of Kabayel. Out of all the Heavyweights atm I see Kabayel as stylistically the hardest challenge for Usyk. Plus let's remember Usyk isn't getting any younger and I thought he started looking his age vs Fury last time out. Don't get me wrong Usyk was good still vs Fury but I can see he's slowed quite significantly.
Usyk hasn't been dropped once in his pro career. He has a weakness to low blows not body shots. If you let anybody get off on your body, you're in trouble. Were Zhang, Makhmudov, or Sanchez considered weak to the body before they got stopped? I like the matchup, but Kabayel had the coordination gap, footspeed gap, and handspeed gap on Zhang. Those advantages would be reversed in an Usyk-Kabayel fight. Usyk isn't going to stand there, square up, and let Kabayel get off 6 punch combinations to his body
Definitely an interesting match up, but I see Usyk taking full advantage of his supervisor footwork and movement. Usyk UD 12. Kabayel appears to have one serious set of whiskers!
I want to see Itauma vs Kabayel, Dubois vs Kabayel, Dubois vs Itauma. Usyk is now too old to fight these young fighters.
