What if they had a rematch?

Could Barkley change his strategy? Using his longer reach to keep Duran away, and then nail him as he tries to get inside. Sort of like Foreman vs Frazier.

It's possible and it also depends if Duran was serious in the rematch or just showing up for a check. If he was serious again I think he beats Barkley countering him better than the first fight. If not Barkley could win a decision.

After winning a big fight late in his career Roberto was as hot and cold as possible.

I don't think Barkley could ever box better than he did vs. Duran. If anything, I think he may have made too much of an effort to box from the outside @ times instead of imposing his size & power on the naturally smaller/older man.

While the Barkley fight is often thought of as Duran's "last hurrah," Barkley had issues of his own in the wake of that fight - he had a retina problem that eventually required surgery & increasingly struggled to make weight. Only 2 fights removed from the Duran loss, he was bombed out in the 1st by Benn.
