Hamzah Sheeraz is a hype job. Why was he being hyped as something he clearly isn't?

He has the tools to be good with a size advantage and a good jab he just seems to lack a bit of confidence which is never a good thing. A guy like Janibek would see that and just put it on him.
Maybe he needs a new trainer to make him more aggressive.

 

He has actually got decent power and some people just love power in which can really build up a fighter's brand creating a hype job as a result.

Other than that he is pretty mediocre and has stunningly average boxing skills. He is not a bum but I'd say his level is a weak contender at the best. He'll have a respectable career but won't light the sport up. It was disgraceful what happened with Sheeraz V Skeete - he should have two losses now.

 

I thought he could have won the fight against Adames if he changed his game plan a bit. Despite fighting a very dumb fight, he still won 4-5 rounds.

He has the ability to defeat Adames, but he lacked the boxing IQ.

 

He should of lost on Saturday. Did he have a broken hand? He's young so I'm going to wait to see him vs another quality guy before passing judgement. I feel like guys get written off so quick nowadays

Hamzah is very tight at 160, clearly his performance showed that as that wasn't the normal Hamzah we know..

168 immediately for him now .. his more natural weight at his size ..

They have finished more boxing careers than made lol.

 

Because our promoters/media are cringe, simping, box ticking halfwits who are happy to sactifice any integrity in favour of playing up to the tanked up British casual.. they hype these fighters up to be something they aren't & adorn them with accolades long before they actually achieve any.. our boxers are pure **** lately , they are pampered, over paid & generally get found out at world level. I remember a few years ago Buatsi was going to be the best thing since sliced bread.. Sheeraz is the latest in a long line.. they tick certain boxes rather than just get assessed on their own merit. Only fighter i like is Nick Ball currently.

He was clearly being pushed hard, had looked really good for the most part up until now. He has all the tools, but he maybe lacking in terms of mental fortitude or ring smarts, or maybe both.

That should have been a winnable fight but he just seemed to lose his way after the early rounds and just stood there with his guard up, giving up all his advantages. Not sure if it was pressure of the moment, if it was the injured hand or if simply being in a fight where he wasn't completely on top like he usually is. Whatever the reason, it's not a good sign and people will rightly be asking if he has what it takes to succeed.

 

I do as well. I also like Dalton Smith. Likewise, I think Yafai is a quality, world class operator.
