Not the most pleasing style for some people, but in the rematch he fought pretty much the perfect fight.

    A total boxing lesson.

Yea Joshua showed a different side to him that he could stay disciplined and box a fight long all the way through. Ruiz was a disgrace the way he turned up though.

He did what he needed to do. Good performance.

Ruiz fought a diffrent fight too. Seemed like he was more interested in what was being served at the buffet than what was going on in the ring.

Yeah ha . No doubt Ruiz lack of preparation played a significant role in Joshua looking so good. But as an out boxer in this fight, he did a great job.

If he'd done that against Dubois, he'd have done much better.

Then again, he'd have been even less popular.

    Oh well.

Ruiz trained in McDonalds for this fight

The money went straight to his head. New teeth. Lost his family. Total idiot.

Yes, it was very disciplined and I respect the guts it must have taken to get straight back into the ring with a man who'd splattered you all over the canvas and proceed to totally outbox them for the whole night. Not his fault Ruiz came in fat. You only prepare for the best version of your opponent you can envision.

Tons of people were saying that Ruiz was going to obliterate Joshua again in the run up to this fight. I remember well enough. And I remember how the narrative changed afterwards.

    It wasn’t very good.

Given Ruiz’s atrocious condition Joshua should either have stopped him or won wider than 118-110 on the cards as the A-side in a big Saudi ring. I recall Joshua slowing down in rounds 7 or 8 too, it was hard work for him and left the question open as to whether he’d have been able to keep an “in-shape” Ruiz off him for 12 rounds.

So 2 cards having him 10 rounds to 2 and one card having him 11 rounds to 1 wasn't good enough? What are you smoking?

Aj was on his bike scared fo engage. But given the state Ruiz was in he could play it safe and cruise to a win to get him back on track for the big fights. It was a mature safety first type win but not some great tactical win.
Fury vs wilder 2 for example was.
Unlucky for AJ he got derailed by Usyk

He fought a way out of shape smaller Ruiz like he was fighting a prime Tyson, and boxed to a timid decision. How is that impressive? He did the minimum to win.
