Adames didn't do much in the first 4 rounds I think it's possible to give sheeraz 1-4 and that just leaves 2 rounds left
Yeah, so did I. Adames did **** all for the first four rounds. Then Sheeraz edged the last two. For the record, I'm not a fan of either, so I was very fair and balanced. It was a listless deplorable showing from both of them. Neither genuinely deserved to win. Round 1 Sheeraz 10-9 Round 2 Sheeraz 10-9 Round 3 Sheeraz 10-9, close Round 4 Sheeraz 10-9 Round 5 Adames 10-9 Round 6 Adames 10-9 Round 7 Adames 10-9, close Round 8 Adames 10-9 Round 9 Adames 10-9 Round 10 Adames 10-9, close Round 11 Sheeraz 10-9 Round 12 Sheeraz 10-9 114-114
I was actually amazed that Adames got the draw, because he had such a horrid start to the contest. And in many of the rounds much happened at all. A draw was completely reasonable. But I do think that a Sheeraz win would have been too much.
I am absolutely blown away by the responses. Now, I only had one eye on it throughout and thought Sheeraz was being ouboxed and the whole British section of the forum said he was soundly beaten. The fact it was so boring has made me not rewatch it but I might do so now.
I didn't score the fight as it was hard for me to maintain my concentration because it was a rather dull affair and I tend to lose interest quickly these days if a fight doesn't grab my attention. And even when I was watching it I was only half doing so. People scoring Buatsi vs Smith, which did grab my attention and understandably so, a draw or 7-5 for Smith was bizarre to me. I felt Smith won by 2-3 rounds on the night and when I watched it back I was even more bemused people had it that close. Whilst it was very competitive and Buatsi had his share of success, won some rounds, and displayed a big heart and a granite chin, Smith beat the crap out of him and was landing the vast majority of the eye catching shots and he just did the better work throughout. Buatsi probably won 4 rounds at best for me but scoring it a draw is insane and it would've been criminal had the judges done so.
7-5 Adames Sheeraz had a winnable fight on his hands, but he fought a dumb fight and clearly lost. At best, he got a draw, but he didn't come close to winning the fight.
I scored the fight a draw. Adames seemed reluctant to engage in the early rounds, although he was better later in the fight. This content is protected
Sheeraz lost, he was pretty overrated. Sheeraz should fight Shakiel Thompson or Troy Isley, he stands no chance against Janibek
