Retire and live on through boxing forums as a mythical 2-round HW ATG. I'm not even kidding with that. If HW boxing was 2 rounds he may be the GOAT.
My idea for him is a deal with DAZN. They do constant fight nights, a lot of which are in the US (and Zhang is currently based in NJ). He’s still a draw. Put him as a co-headliner against the tomato can of the week whenever they need to spice up a card. ok to be serious, someone like Chisora or Whyte.
Wardley, Okolie, Sanchez, Miller, Ruiz, Anderson or Chisora are the names for Zhang next, hopefully. The Bakole fight would be tremendous.
What's next? Well, he keeps getting whooped he may end up assembling Iphones in a sweat shop somewhere.
China is substantially cheaper than the US. If he's stashed away even $1mil, he's probably fine to retire with zero financial issues for the rest of his life over there. Plus he could no doubt find work as an amateur boxing coach or whatever there.
Not to say Zhang couldn’t stop/KO several prospective opponents out there - but I have to say that I do agree that Big Bang should retire. There’s always accumulated punishment absorbed over a pro career that will manifest as varying issues to some degree in later life. Even if Zhang has suffered relatively little punishment, why hang around to actually suffer that punishment - it no maka sense. His stamina is getting even worse and, at 41 yo, the same punch(es) he took when younger are likely to land more and likely to cause more damage in their own right to a much older Zhang.
He probably hasn’t earned enough money to retire comfortably. He can still have a few more exciting fights.
He wouldn't because he wouldn't get the knockdown consistantly given how little he moves. Speed boxing favors the underdog 4 rounders allowed Willie Meehan to compete with ATGs. If Zhang doesn't score the knockdown hes got to win both rounds or its a draw.
Guy was on an Oxygen mask after his last fight. All the money in the world means nothing if you become braindead.
Wardley and Itauma, although I think if he catches them, he could win, are far too young and fresh for him. With his stamina issues and age, I'd say cash out with one or two more big fights against the likes of Bakole or Whyte and then retire. I think he's done well in boxing, some big wins over Joyce & Wilder and great memories for him.
