At the moment Bivol and Beterbiev are 1 to 1 (absolute draw, identical scores in the two matches, once each) but I also think that Bivol is favored at this point if there will be a third match, among other things the passing of time does not play in favor of Beterbiev. I think that in the fall there will most likely be Bivol - Beterbiev 3, it seems to me that both the two fighters and Turki Al-Sheikh want it. But beyond this, as I said before, Benavidez has earned the chance to face the WBC world light heavyweight champion and it is right that he faces him. If the WBC forces Bivol to defend the belt with Benavidez and he does not want to do it, it is right that the WBC dethrones Bivol and puts the belt up for grabs between Benavidez and TBA (Albert Ramirez?)
He was hurt several times by Morrell, and dropped with a left hook by Gavril. Also Peter Berg is a credible source and he says Bivol dropped him hard in sparring.
Peter Berg just admitted he got it wrong and apologised saying it was Benavidez who dropped Bivol with a jab: This content is protected
It doesn't matter whatsoever. Bivol still dismantles him with ease. It's not a hard match to predict an outcome in. Beterbiev and Benavidez are not on the same level.
That may not be a bad outcome but I suspect Eddie Hearn will try to push for DB vs Callum Smith for the WBC title who will do to Smith what Buatsi should have done.
I would love to see it. I love both guys but I do think DB is going to be a real problem for anybody. He is that good.
in a perfect world it would be Canelo vs Benevidez Winner gets Bivol vs Beterbiev rubber match winner & the losers also square off for 3rd place.
How much did Benavidez weigh during these sparring sessions? We know he weighs way more than Bivol now (about 13lbs) even though it's only his second fight at 175 and Bivol is a career 175. He weighed 196 for his second fight at 175 and that's also the second highest fight night weight for a LHW I've ever heard of and by like 2-3lbs. But the other day Benavidez said he ''thinks'' that's the heaviest he's ever weighed in a fight and we know he weighed 189 for Gvozdyk so unless he's lying about how much he weighed for Gvozdyk that means he's come in close to 196 when he was down at SMW which is insane. Career LHW Kovalev has come in as low as 181 and his heaviest recorded fight night weight is 189 and that was only once IIRC. His average fight night weight is probably 185. Bivol's fight night weights range from 180-184. Beterbiev walks around at 191 according to his assistant trainer Iceman Scully and I suspect he comes in under 190. It might be close or very close to 190 but nowhere near 196. These are just three recent career LHWs and Benavidez is way bigger than them all despite only just having moved up to LHW But what we do know is that massive SMW Benavidez has been put down in a fight by Gavril at SMW and Bivol has never been dropped despite constantly fighting bigger, much bigger or way bigger opponents than him at LHW and fighting better opposition than Benavidez and that includes going the distance x 2 and beating arguably the hardest puncher in boxing in Beterbiev and certainly the most heavy handed P4P.
Brother Olu. Smith beat Buatsi because, contrary to what you believe, he is the better fighter. I know Buatsi is your guy but that's the whole reason why Smith won the other day. Because he's the better fighter. He has better skills.
I agree Bivol has the boxing advantages, but there's one advantage Benavidez does have over Beterbiev ,,he's much younger.
