I think it is very interesting how Wlad has become somewhat underrated. His record is rather incredible for a modern day heavyweight and his attributes and respect for the game make him a h2h handful for most anyone. Always in shape, always focused, even when he wasn't if you see what I mean. What an interesting thread, and if you'd have told me I'd be picking Wlad to stop Lennox when it began, I'd have laughed with you...
Both had the power to stop each other. No way would Lewis "walk through" Wlad's punches. If he tried that, Lewis would be KO'd.
Lewis couldn't walk through Rahman's and McCall's punches and Wlad hits significantly harder than both of them. They had good power in a right hand, Wlad had elite power in both right hand and left hook
Although I disagree, there is a little validity in your point. For me, Lewis could be mugged, but if he was expecting a firefight he could eat those punches. See Briggs fight, Mercer, Vitali, even Bruno for example. But. Possible exception of Bruno and I don't care what stats say, none of those hit as hard, as technically impeccably, as accurately as Wlad. He was a surgeon when he put his power to work. Lennox, as I've said earlier was that little bit Wilder, and that would be his undoing. Wlad implemented the Steward safety first soften, soften bang gameplan with much more consistency than Lewis did as big Len sometimes reverted to type...
Well yes he could. He got one bombed but he could walk through them both. Wlad won't be able to handle the shots Lewis is landing. He gets destroyed.
For all he did Wlad achieved I think he was kind of a underachiever. He fought with a greater drive and less fear at 41 vs AJ than he did for most the rest of his career.
lol lewis got absolutely separated from his senses against Rahman with a right hand but somehow “Walks through” Wladimir Klitschkos power… Vitali had him out on his feet early in their fight. Had that been Wlad landing those 1-2’s… lewis goes out with his head bouncing off the canvas again.
True. But while most people would say Lewis faced better competition than Wlad he also had a lot less fights than Wlad and likely faced less big punches. I would give Lewis a edge in the chin apartment he recovered better and could take more big shots. Granted Wlad has never stayed down for the count while Lewis has once.
For me the answer is the usual one. Wlad wins a technical fight, and Lewis wins a slugfest. The result really depends on Lewis and which version shows up. Wlad has a better average showing than Lewis whereas Lewis has better highs. A flat version of Lewis gets mauled, whereas a top notch one probably does the mauling. If they had a series Wlad would win more than Lewis, even if Lewis' wins would be more spectacular.
