I don't hate Tank at all, and I don't think a DQ should have happened, but a point should have been taken for him taking a knee. That is
Appeal the fact that Davis took a knee and a point was not deducted. Rules are very specific when it comes to knockdowns. If any part of the body other than the bottom of the boxers feet touch the canvas it counts as a knockdown. I mean, you saw what happened. Doesn't matter what causes the fighter to take a knee. Braid juice in the eyes, Vaseline, blood etc. You take a knee, you're deducted a point. Nothing to argue about honestly.

Yeah but there is way more to it in this fight Tank turning his back should be an automatic TKO loss.

lol. I’ve only watched him fight twice.

it was a strange one as it happened so quick, hence maybe the ref not reacting how he should. he took the knee and said something to the ref and ran over to his corner.

had he said to the ref “I can’t see out of this eye”, the ref would pause the fight for a check up and send roach to neutral corner. So the same thing would have happened but instead of it taking 5seconds, it would have taken 20seconds.

It didn’t benefit anyone if there was nothing actually wrong with him.

An illegal blow is worse than an inspection. The only issue was it happened so fast and without the ref directing everyone.

So am I, so nice to meet you.

I have no interest in tank, I’ve only watched him vs Garcia before. He’s good but he’s not often in fights that interest me.

the ref lost control for a moment and a guy went to check his eye, instead of getting the ref to pause the action to check it.

is this the first time a corner have stepped on the apron? Has a fighter on the main event been dq for it before?
When Floyd fought (It may have been against zab) and chaos broke out with corners getting in, did they dq the fight or give a warning?
When fan man happened and chaos erupted, did they stop the fight?
whenever a corner has got on the apron have they stopped the fight?
When fury was laid on the floor in wilder 1, his coach tried jumping on the ring (maybe causing a slight distraction to the ref too) and the officials/security stopped him from getting in, he was still leaning on the apron and nothing happened. This was an Infringment but it went unpunished, or should they have dq’d him too?

I agree this is what should have happened. It should have been scored a kd.

ideally what tank should have done if he had a sight issue, was try to get the refs attention without taking a knee and explain it to him, he would have got a 30second break with a more thorough check.

He did it the quick route, which effected the flow of the fight less, but it was silly and unauthorised. He took a knee so I believe it should have been a kd. But I understand the messiness of it.

    Not a chance!

He took the knee to cause the break, then turned his back and walked to his corner. He was in no danger.

even When a guy gets knocked down, hurt and is in danger, he gets the count and is given an opportunity to beat it. we can see his back during that. It happens very often.

why on earth would they stop a fight if a guy is in no danger at all and is winning the round at that point.

The only other times I recall a fighter taking a knee without a punch being thrown is Mayweather v Hernandez and Cotto v Margarito

Both times the ref recognised the knee.

Can you recall any times a fighter took a knee, the ref didn't recognise it, and there was no uproar, as you describe.

He took the knee before turning his back. Once the fighter takes a knee action should be stopped. What also should be taken into account, is that Davis did not turn his back to evade punishment. At the end of the day, Roach was screwed. I had dude winning even without the point deduction.

I agree, it should have been counted as a kd. TBH, that looked like what tank was intending, to take a count and get himself sorted.

considering he was in no danger and winning the round, he should have got the refs attention without taking the knee and said he can’t see out of his eye and he would have got an authorised 20-30sec inspection with everything he needed.

I meant when it’s a favoured fighter the ref makes a bad call on, the excuse of “referee discretion” is used.

But does the referee have discretion when a fighter takes a knee?

The decision is surely to count or to wave it off.

Tank was momentarily hurt & confused all this crapolla about him wanting to get the attention of the ref could have simply been achieved had he spat his gumshield but he chose to take a knee, run away to his corner and get a towel entered into the ring , it's crapolla that this blatant breach of the rules by both fighter & his corner was allowed by the ref to go unpunished , I like watching Tank fight he's a very exciting fighter but that was pure BOLLOX .

Normally after an injury/inspection time is called, the fighter can lay down if he wants.

the issue here was he did it before “time” was called and used it to get the refs attention and get a few seconds to sort himself out. He should have used a better way of getting refs attention to avoid taking a knee and all the drama and potential 10-8 round.

As a side note, the ref has general discretion over pretty much everything. He can not rule it a knockdown if he decides, which is what happened.
Sometimes trips get called knockdowns, sometimes knockdowns get discounted.
Sometimes knockouts are taken from fighters like in the usyk/fury 1. Because people like fury they claim “if the ropes are holding you up it’s a knockdown”, but they misunderstand that on purpose to benefit their favourite fighter in the fight.

sometimes low blows or dirty fighting isn’t penalised correctly etc.
