What a terrible, corrupt **** referee. Seemed to be on Donovans case and overly harsh, desperate to give points and the victory to Crocker. Disqualified Donovan for a late shot but during a exchange of punches when he’s trying to finish the fight and McDonnell is nowhere near to intervene at the bell. Donovans brilliant performance completely ruined by this muppet with an agenda. He has previous as well. He's always been a dodgy referee and judge.. He recently was the only judge who scored Junaid Bostan - Bilal Fawaz for Bostan when Fawaz clearly won He was the bent ref/judge who gave the victory to Campbell Hatton vs Sonni Martinez, when everyone with eyesight could see Campbell lost that fight He had George Groves vs Chris Eubank Jr far too close at 115-113 He had Jamie Cox a winner over Obodai Sai, robbery. He was the referee who gave Amir Khan a 14 second long count against Willie Limond.
Too many to go through mate honestly. ****ing tragic. He reminds me of Thunderbirds, the funny looking wee men who are having strings pulled.
The Sai one was terrible. Even though Sai was African all the Brits were kicking off in the venue because they felt Sai was robbed.
I bought the PBC PPV card and Gevonta Davis should have lost the fight. He had success with a few power punches but fell short in all infight situations. On the undercard I had Sandor Martin to win 116-113 but he lost on a split decision....? Terrible decision. Almost every weekend we have judges who can't see what's going on in the ring. Sad.
Terrible scorecards are bad enough but the ref not scoring a KD when Davis took a knee might just be the most corrupt thing I've ever seen. Arguably it could even have been a TKO given he turned his back and walked to his corner.
Your 'previous' spans back 18 years for 5 examples, not sticking up for him but that isn't a great case you have put together !
Fresh blood needed mate but who wants to grow up to be a boxing judge these days. Surely ex fighters who didn’t make a killing could be persuaded?
Yeah definitely. Usually when it’s a ‘robbery’ it’s still open for discussion and is just opinion but this was literally bending the rules. Taking a knee is a point off and your corner working on you during rounds is a DQ and both were ignored.
I spoke to one of the top people from the WBA earlier today and he told me that no one can defend what is going on. If a new referee comes out to a major event they will typically get a nice hotel room with all the food and drinks being free. If they get bored in bed at night they can have company (paid by the promoter). There are many temptations they become addicted to and therefore they often end up having difficulty seeing what is going on in the ring.
Especially given the fact that two cards were 114-114 the knockdown would have made the difference. Though saying that you wouldn't be surprised if it'd still been scored a draw.
